Well I was in Dallas for the tcu game and didn't watch any of the Bama game. Yea, I hooked some of the Gump noobs earlier, but this is a legit Q.

Scanning the rant, I saw some espn qb metric that had the vt qb ranked at 115 of 115 after yesterdays game.

I assume they aired it out trying to play catchup? Wasn't he supposed to be good last year? Did he have an off game or did your secondary just absolutely devour him?

He ended up like 5/26 for around 55 yards and a pick. Guess it was the worst game in the FBS week one.

Our defense is really, really good.

A lot of overthrown balls and a lot of drops for Virginia Tech. The secondary was okay... but there were times when the VT receivers were wide open, or had it right in their hands. Thomas was just awful

His WR's were terrible to start. He has the tools to be very good, but just can't seem to put it all together.

We got a lot of pressure on him which forced some bad throws.

Our Safties and LB's are all very good cover guys, minus Sunseri and he had a pick 6 yesterday. The CB's looked good, but Logan Thomas wasn't accurate enough to really test them.

We do have ridiculous speed all over the field though

He may have the strongest arm in college football, his receivers aren't very good though so they have a hard time catching those missiles. Bama secondary did a great job all things considered. Belue finally learned to find the football, so that's a good thing

Did y'all go up big early or was it competitive for a bit? It would be rough sledding to have the defense know the pass is coming.

Either way, that guy is pretty good. It's not like he was a freshman or something.

The game was never in doubt

And to say he's good is a stretch. He has a cannon but makes bad decisions...he's Jamarcus Russell physically and 2008 Jarrett Lee mentally

We went up the first time we touched the ball

It was never competitive. They were never competitive offensively, and we weren't really that competitive offensively either. It was a weird fricking game

Only because we had stolen Tech's special teams.

Sounds like one hell of a secondary. Dude ended up with a QBR rating of 1.7 or something like that

Up 14-0 early. Unexpected loooong run to make it 14-7, then mostly stopped them afterwards.

As bad as we looked, I wasn't ever concerned about the outcome. The D was pretty good outside of the one long run, but the O had me worrying about scoring enough against aTm by the early second quarter yesterday.

Exactly what I said around the fourth quarter. It really felt like watching another A-Day game or something.

I never felt VT was competitive in the game, our offense's poor performance notwithstanding. We went up 14-0 rather quickly before VT reeled off a long run to pull within 7. That margin didn't last long due to a pick six on their very next possession. They got a turnover deep within our territory to make the score 21-10 before Jones's kickoff return for a TD put them out of the game for good. I don't believe their offense played a snap on our side of the 50 for the remainder of the game.

It reminded me of that Kent State game in 2011. We really were horrible in that game, and Virginia Tech is better than that Kent team was. I remember thinking "Richardson's a bust, can't be the #1 back" right after the game because these were his stats: 13 carries for 37 yards. He looked exactly how Yeldon and the others looked yesterday. Not to mention that in the Kent game we had like 4 INTs. Last year's opening game was more of an anomaly than what should be expected of the opening game. We didn't look too great against VT in 2009 either, and that season worked out pretty well

We had nearly 500 yards of offense in that game. Virginia Tech had 155 yards of total offense in that game. Virtually all of their points were set up by special teams and turnovers.

For some reason I remember that being a rough game for us. Guess not

ETA: The first half was, I'm pretty sure.

Offense vs offense the score was 14-10. They ran the ball effectively. At times we passed and rushed effectively.

It was pretty rough for us on the scoreboard. Statistically we dominated them but Virginia Tech still had a 17-16 lead going into the final quarter of play.
