He was yall’s 3rd/4th choice, so don’t you owe him slack just for that?

He was Stricklin’s 2nd choice, as far as I know he was probably the fan bases 7th. He still got 6 million, he still needs to produce sooner rather than later.

Every single person has acknowledged that this is a few years in the making to get us in the right direction, thinking he's going to magically wave his wand and we're going to have top 5 classes is just completely outside of reality.

Nobody is saying he won’t get a few years to fix it. However your expectations need to be checked, this is a championship program with championship expectations. The way you are talking you would think we are Kentucky. We live in the most talent rich state in the country arguably, in a era full of Freshman and Sophmores competing at the highest level. The excuses need to stop, there is no reason he can’t get a ton of talent and put a great product on the field to compete with the best quickly. Get your head out of your arse and expect better.

Ahhhh just so you know...UF returns 10 starters on offense and seven on defense...and that doesn't count any punter or kicker. Defense really has 8 starters back with CJ Henderson.

UF may be a lot tougher than most realize...just saying.

Florida could win at State this season. It will come down to who wants this one time hate fest the most.

Ten. Years. Ago.

Again, this is a ten year problem, not like we just slipped up a little.

I can almost hear your muffled voice coming out of your chest. Head up arse = thinking we're going to be competing for championships immediately.

You're part of the retarded Gators fanbase who thinks kids who are 18 give a shite about what happened ten years ago.

It's amazing how the narrative changes. When Mullen was hired, the narrative was that he didn't need to be a great recruiter because Florida recruited itself. Now this is a few years in the making. The goalposts keep getting moved....but you're rapidly running out of room

Straws doesn’t speak for most of us, make no mistake the goal post are not moving, nor will they. He needs to be in the SEC Championship by year 3 and win a SEC Championship by year 4, or he needs to move along.

When exactly has Georgia had the type of success we had 10 years ago? How long did it take Kirby to reel in top 5 classes? How about Herman at Texas, who has been worse than us for longer? I understand your point but don’t we want the best? Shouldn’t we expect the best?

both will struggle.

MSU will only beat Ole Miss and Arkansas in the West

Florida will only beat Vandy and Kentucky in the east

Georgia's recruiting average over the past 6 years is around #6 - 7. Their win average over the same amount of time is 10 wins.

Kirby being a good recruiter + having little to no in-state rivalry + having good players in-state = success.

Even at MSST this year. Having a ton of talent in-state while your biggest in-state rival is on sanctions = success.

In Florida out of the Big 3 (Florida, Miami and Florida State) we have had the worst immediate record. Texas, MSST (this year) and Georgia are all kings of their states, and have been for the past few years even when they're down.

Your reasons sounds amazing in your head because you're a Gator fan, but it's simply not the same situation across the board.

Rich coming from the person who thinks we are getting everyone in recruiting. I’m done arguing there’s no point. Have a good night Straws.

"We're going to have to wait before we can start recruiting top 5 again." - Me

"Rich coming from a person who thinks we are getting everyone in recruiting." - You

You and TJ have some serious tunnel vision, man.

They have been jousting back and forth of late. MState unhappy that Mullen left them for another SEC school

You got it wrong. Look at any MSU boards aside from any linked here. Mullen is yesterday’s news. The thing that has MSU fans ruffled is the resume writing when he should have been coaching. Hell, it will be a damn relief to not have to go through half of a recruiting cycle with a coach letting the rumors of him leaving keep going.

The thing is, other fans tried to tell MSU fans that Mullen is the ceiling. It gets no better. Well, Moorehead is on track to beat Mullen in recruiting in year one compared to any of Mullen’s years. This includes the offseason after going to the Orange Bowl. Year one.

But it’s a good year in state! Year one. But but but Ole Miss is on probation!! Year uno. Never coached a game yet in the SEC compared to 9 years of Mullen.

And last I checked other SEC teams are still recruiting in MS also.

MSU fans have been more right about Mullen’s recruiting than FL fans. No question about it. Yes it’s July. But when is it ever an excuse to be behind Duke and Iowa State.

With that said, MSU has the better season. It’s not a rebuilding season.

Here's the thing with Mullen:
He left us tons better than he found us.
He's got a great eye for talent ( we have several 2 and 3 stars in the NFL now)
His teams may not be the most talented but they are tough and they play hard.
His teams are well conditioned (they don't get cramps or pulled muscles.) If Florida truly can recruit itself and he gets top 10 talent then Florida will win a natty. He's that good.
State could never beat elite teams because of the talent difference.( mainly at WR)
That being said, this is the most talented State team of my lifetime and I'm 45. I believe State goes 10-2 with losses to Auburn and Bama.
That's where we are as a program, about every 4 years we can possibly win 10 or 11 games and then we will drop back to 7-5 and slowly build it back up.
Nobody thinks we are a better program than LSU or among the SEC elite, but with the way, Mullen develops players and now those players are Juniors and Seniors. We have a chance to compete with the SEC elite this year.

Only down votes for this question is dumbfounding. Are the Gator fans doing it because they feel they're too good of a program historically to compared to Starkeville? Are State fans doing it because they feel it should be obvious they will have the better season this year?

Either way, one of the better questions on here.
