I never said it’s the only factor. The common factor of the two first games is both teams blow did and had zero quality wins without being undefeated.
I didn't say you did. But I asked about quality wins because some have different opinions on this board. However, I don't care that Team A had two wins over teams that finished the year in the top 25.... if they lost two games to shite teams. I don’t care that Team B played a top 10 SOS but finished sub-par.

Quality Wins Should Be the #1 Playoff Factor
It should be important, how well a team travels has to be considered too though! ;)

You have no clue who will be good when scheduling. No one expected FSU to tank this year.

You already failed in this thread. Don’t do it again.

Teams that have proven they can win against playoff teams and lost 3 one score games > teams that haven’t proven they can beat a playoff caliber team and avoided losing to mid/lower level opponents

Texas beat Michigan
Michigan beat Ohio State
Texas beat Oklahoma
Oklahoma beat Alabama
Texas beat Kentucky
Kentucky beat Ole Miss
Texas beat Florida
Florida beat LSU, Ole Miss
Texas beat Texas A&M
Texas A&M beat Missouri
Texas beat Arkansas
Arkansas beat Tennessee
Texas beat Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt beat Alabama
But yet, Texas hadn’t beat a ranked team..
Michigan won the NC last year, but they aren’t ranked this year..
You can’t control the teams sucking on your schedule..
Eta: Kirby is 53-4 since 2021 with 2 NC, a good chance at a 3rd this year, and probably would have won last year if they made the playoff.. so it isn’t just “some playoff team” Texas lost to.,

Negative.
Bama would not have done any better than the teams that lost this weekend. They just aren’t a good team.

So I guess Vandy or Oklahoma should have been in the playoffs then. You know…. Since being able to get A quality win is all that should matter.

Is not any worse than 9-3 when two of those 3 losses were to Vandy and Oklahoma and the 3rd to apparently a very “meh” Tennessee

Same wins and losses against common opponents....and LSU has ole piss on the head-to-head.

They hadn't. Not sure why this still causes you confusion.
And while transitive chains are nice, they also work in reverse.
Alabama beat UGA who beat Texas.
Ole Miss beat UGA who beat Texas.
But, bad losses need to count as much as big wins count. Texas had no big wins before this past weekend. But they had no bad (or even mediocre) losses.
It's wrong to think quality wins should be the primary factor.
Texas had one more win than Tennessee. They had one less quality win. They had one less bad loss. So having them a few spots ahead of Tennessee was completely appropriate.
If you just looked at quality wins, you might think Tennessee should have been ranked ahead of Texas. And that would not have been correct.

"Quality" wins within a conference that hardly plays anybody decent OOC should not.

Why do you think that's true?
Do you honestly think Texas would be better if they lost to Vandy but beat UGA?
I kind of think the loss to a scrub cancels out a win vs a good team.

By that logic Boise State should not even be in the playoffs
