TaylorHamm247 Saddens me to tweet this but Matt Davis will transfer from A&M. He will be missed in Aggie locker room.
Looks like Matt Joeckel and True Freshman Kenny Hill will battle for the backup QB spot.

He must have gotten priced out of the autograph market.

Is this where we talk about rats jumping off a sinking ship?

Hill was the front runner anyway. Davis was looking at 4th string, which for any highly recruited guy isn't welcome.

Wouldnt this be a good sign for Texas A&M that Manziel will be cleared?

Dang. Hate to lose a great player.

Are you familiar with this board? Nothing is a positive.

Should've switched positions. He's as athletic as Johnny, but just doesn't have his instincts or arm. Good luck to him though.

well, he almost transferred this spring when we asked him to change positions but asked Sumlin for one more shot at QB. When he fell to 4th team this fall, he decided to move on. Likely goes JUCO so he can play this fall and transfer somewhere next year (he already redshirted)

Nope, y'all's is fallin' apart

The guy was sitting 4th string after fall camp. He just never panned-out. This is what highly recruited QBs who will never play do at every major school. Nothing to see here.

Yup, it's over. We're done.
Rice staaaaaaaaaaacked.

would have loved to see him try to change positions, but I'm having trouble seeing this as a big loss. I appreciate his passion for A&M, his enormous effort and impact on recruiting when he was a Senior in HS, but this is just part of college football.
We have finally reached the point where our locker room and future pipeline is loaded with elite talent...especially at QB.
Manziel
Kenny Hill - 2013
Kyle Allen - 2014 (#1 QB in country)
Kyler Murray - 2015 (Won 5A State Title as a Soph, son of Aggie great Kevin Murray)
The writing was on the wall that Davis wasn't ever going to see the field at QB.

Matt Davis is a great athlete... Hill and Joeckel are solid and we have Kyle Allen coming in next year. He could possibly leapfrog both of them (although redshirting him is probably the safest route). Wish Davis the best of luck. He will make an impact wherever he goes.

Hate to see him leave, but understand his desire to get on the field at QB. Best wishes!

Kenny Hill, the true freshman, was already beating Davis out for 2nd team.
Sad, because I love Matty D. Good dude. Best of luck to him.

Honestly when Davis signed I didn't know what Sumlin was going to do with him. He doesn't fit the mold for a Sumlin QB (neither does JFF but that is a different story).
But I was happy A&M signed him because he was a recruiter for A&M in that class. Without him no T. Williams at the very least probably.
And to think, he committed after the couch that recruited him was fired in his driveway.
