I like dogs in uniform. This is the first pic of Geecey (yeah I named it) I used.
And then I wanted a change so I thought I'd put him at Tiger Stadium at a game with a corndog. Then at the PMAC with a foam finger, and then at The Box with a Fire Javi shirt. I'm stuck with him now. He's my dawg
And I have a chihuahua irl lol

Honestly no, I only like baseball live, so I only go to LSU games (though I'll watch the Tigers on TV also).

November, 1972. 17-16. It was most enjoyable television.

The answer, Pat Dye was an assistant coach at Alabama... Not sure what he did to help Auburn (Black Helicopters), but I do remember that he convinced Bear to punt vs. (UT or FSU), pin them deep and that he would force a punt. Bear followed his advise and Alabama won.
Remember, Pat loved coach Bryant and was at Alabama for 8 years. A couple of side items, it was said when Pat first went to Auburn, that if you wanted to talk about the good old days at Bama you had to go to Auburn to talk to Coach Dye and Coach Wayne Hall (coached and played for Bear).
They both said they learned everything about how to act on and off the field from recruiting to coaching from the Bear. They loved him.

It was almost as enjoyable as 6-3 in 1980. That game started a tradishun.

What no one ever mentions is that Alabama won the very next Iron Bowl 35-0, and then proceeded to win the next eight after that. I guess they had to make their last win for a while count.
Though "Punt Bama Punt" was an inspirational story. I'll give it that much.
Sure people mention it. Before "fear the thumb" "9 in a row" was talked about a lot. To answer the original question, I would imagine he was the special teams coach. Or drunk.

Dye coached LBs and was DC or assistant DC under Bryant.

Tennessee in Knoxville earlier in 1972. Similar deal in 1968 when Alabama scored late down 10-3 and went for two and missed and lost 10-9. Alabama scored late to make it 10-9 and Dye convinced him to kick (remember,at Auburn Dye had no problems with ties.

I guess we fricked his thread up. Oh well.
To the contrary, my good man! This thread has bestowed mountains of unsuckyness.
I got "distracted" last night.

You're sneaking up on the answer.
