There was plenty of smoke early in Saban's tenure ( NCAA investigated a Dodge dealership in Gadsden, etc...)

So a nutcase AU fan takes a picture of a black kid with a Charger and puts it on the internet, and this is "cheating"? Or even "smoke"? You aubies are insane.

No. The funny thing is, AU is one of the most cheating institutions in the history of college athletics. Yet, you barners point the finger at everyone else.

So then...wouldn’t it stand to reason that other schools have to cheat to beat Saban for a player?

Saban doesn’t get all of his to targets...he got hardly any of them in 2018.

So Saban and my Mom have something in common in that they both steadfastly refuse to text. I know that some will appreciate that but damn for those of use who hate the phone and all the extraneous shite talking on it brings, texts are wayyyy better.

Of course, it wouldn't matter if Saban chose to only recruit via using airplane banners. Recruits and their family members would still listen.

Since about 2011 yes, very much so. When he got there and for about 3-4 years after, there was so much money flying around you could have been injured by the stacks of cash being thrown around.

Jimbo doing very much the same thing at TAMU

Yeah never has Saban been investigated for cheating at any of his college stops but yet he cane to Alabama and is only successful because he cheats. This board has a case of the retards.

All the Bama fans went full bore with the Auburn HBO players, but glossed over the fact one of them talked about getting money while visiting LSU while Saban was there....

Not saying he is full blown cheating but dont act like there hasnt been stuff here or there. Hell look at TTowns menswear

If Auburn is, then Bama is right there as well(They only have one less major). Two major infractions under Sabans watch as well...

Saban cheated at LSU and cheats at Bama. Who cares? All schools cheat. I've said it many times, if everyone is making offers is there really an advantage? It's recruiting and the best recruiter wins and in some cases that's the best offer. It's not all money, cars, family jobs etc. There are many, many ways to compensate and put together a package.

As for the ,sustaining, comment, horseshite. You think these kids and their families give a shite about success when there's offers on the table? It's a me world and many of these kids see it as a case that if the best doesn't want to offer up or meet the best offer they'll go elsewhere and make them the best. It's called keeping up with the Jones'.
This doesn't mean every kid is on the take or that every recruit is being offered a kings ransom.

It's a shame this thread (predictably) devolved into a Bama cheats - no we don't waste because it is a pretty interesting story.

I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but this is a pretty telling observation Prof. People are always asking how Saban gets players to 'buy in'. If you get past the 'lots of cash helps' argument, the fact that Saban recruits the same way regardless of the kid means that he is overwhelmingly going to attract kids that appreciate that approach - they 'buy in' when they connect with the old guy that calls them on the phone and sits in their living room. The kids that don't find extra value and appreciation likely aren't the ones that are going to be willing to accept Saban's way. That's not to say they won't be successful and great, just that they won't be a good fit. That dogged determination to use the same approach serves as a pretty good filter.

I agree. With recruiting it's a matter of fit more than people want to think about. Sure we all need/want them to be super-talented but our respective coaches need them to be able to take coaching/mesh with their style.

5*s actually have a better chance of shining at a school with less 5*s. All you hear when a player does something at Bama you hear about the players around them.

I'm sure you have a lot of data and examples to back this up

5*s probably have a better chance of shining at a school with 5* type coaches to help them develop.

Bama is under the biggest microscope there is. Believe me, if Saban was cheating Bama would be under an NCAA investigation and we'd all know about it.

Damn! You are either ridiculously dumb or just enjoy putting your head deep in the sand.

Everyone Cheats. Let's get that out of the way first.

Bama cheats at a level never seen before. Can it be documented? Absolutely not. No cash or benefits are ever given directly from the coaching staff, or any School employee directly to a member of a recruit's family.

Everything is done by Boosters. Cash cannot ever be traced. Giving jobs to Prospective prospect's family member's by boosters cannot be traced to the school.

Giving a prospect a brand new car (leased in an obscure family member's name) by a friendly booster, who owns a dealership, cannot be traced back to the school.

Donating money to a high school (ie Foley High School Indoor Football Facility while Julio Jones was a FR) by a Bama booster cannot be traced back to the school.

Donating money to a city park in suburban Washington DC where a certain Bama 5 star OL practiced several years back cannot be traced back to the school.

Donating $150,000 to Dr. Phillip's High School to improve facilities while Ha Ha Clinton Dix played there was not an NCAA offense for the school.

Giving cold hard Cash to prospects by boosters will never be able to be traced back to the school.

Wake up!!

A 5* coach wins no matter the talent level he has. Saban does not. Saban just rides the coattails of the talent on the team. 5*s he competes for NCs. Without it he loses to ULM.

You are wasting your time. Saban himself could turn Bama in to the ncaa and they would blame everyone else and call them liars.
