that's not how NCAA investigations work. It isn't a court of law.

The contract settlement and firing will be handled in arbitration.

Both sides have to agree to arbitration. If not it is settled in the courts. UT absolutely WILL NOT arbitrate this one.

Bank on it.

So the lawyer says Pruitt had no knowledge of any of the infractions. Nine people get fired and Pruitt dindu nuffin. Sure thing bud.

Like either party actually wants to have this go to court.

Tennessee has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

UT is screwed. Why not let UGA and UA join the fun?

They might have already. Check the contract and the associated addendums to the contract.

Even then, the discovery and what not will almost certainly lead one side or another (or both) to strongly consider whether they want what comes out to be in the public eye.

Let it go to court.

You won't be laughing when the NCAA makes you give up 5 real titles and 6 of your fake ones.

You really think Pruitt would perjure himself to protect Saban?

You're even dumber than that would indicate.

You would think if the NCAA could use evidence from the courtroom testimony, several high profile basketball coaches would be in prison right now. Or at least jobless. Haven’t been around long, eh?

I don’t think you understand how “court” works. When you are being sued for termination from UT, you don’t get to make it about Bama, UGA, UF or anyone else. Any half decent judge would never let that happen.
Even IF some homer UT judge got the case, you really believe that Pruitt would turn on Saban and have his whole home state despise him for the rest of his life. Good luck with that.

How can anyone at Tennessee think firing Pruitt for cause was a good idea. There is nothing good that can come from this. Fire the guy, pay him his money, and move on. They can't be so desperate that they would accept another decade of irrelevance to save a few dollars. No coach worth anything is going to go work there. Add in sanctions and you can forget about Tennessee competing for another decade or more.

Only one school in history had a booster go to jail for being so filthy.

Name that school.

Her is a hint: They later murdered the booster.

He's about to sue the shi.t out of an already cash-strapped school. They won't be able to fight it and just settle with him.

Pruitt and his lawyers got a gift-wrapped present at the press conference today when the chancellor herself said they had not found anything showing Pruitt was directly involved.

He'll get at least half of that buyout.

No, you don't know how it works.

You can bring up past indiscretions to show it is a pattern and a precedent set by Mr. Pruitt.

Depending on what cause Pruitt was fired for, Tennessee definitely has reputation, recruiting, and NCAA punishments on the line.

Also a long enough court case leads to potentially costing money instead of saving money. Looming litigation costs cause perfectly winnable cases to be settled all the time.
