I know people have said that the unusual season will protect coaches, but I think with coaches like Leach and Kiffin getting attention, there will be at least one AD that succumbs to the pressure and tries to make a coaching change to reinvigorate their program.

My guess is South Carolina is the most likely to do this, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see a dark horse candidate have an extreme reaction to a poor season.

Really bold prediction there...

And this is a pre-season thread.

Yeah Muschamp can't keep losing like they do. He gets paid too much to do too little. At the same time the players love him and it could destroy their program.

I just don't see it.

Universities are hurting. Start up accounts frozen, faculty taking deferments and pay cuts.

I know the money comes from a different source, but it would certainly get the administration in a PR nightmare.

Unless there is a stripper gate type of thing, of course.

I agree, and athletic departments will feel the tightening with exceptionally reduced income from ticket sales, concessions, local economic impact for no tailgating. If this carries over to Spring sports....no college basketball and reduced ticket sales 2 yrs straight + baseball yikes!

Honestly this season is a throw away for most teams
I think Muschamp survives another season
What is his buyout?
No way you can justify that when teams will lose millions this year.
Mason at Vandy most likely if it happens, his buyout is probably more reasonable or did they even extend him?

Gonna be really tough for an AD to justify lighting that much cash on fire to a president when their part of the budget is tanking already.

Pandemic automatically gave all coaches a free year.

Watch though, Auburn will go undefeated and win the CFP and Gus will get a massive raise because of it...

I think Muschamp and Masons seat will be on fire if they’re not terminated this year.

If Auburn loses more than 3 games Gus will feel some heat.
Jimbo’s seat is probably getting warm if A&M doesn’t go at least 7-3.

The rest should be safe. If Pruitt has a losing season his seat gets hot but I think UT does ok this year
