I think that Ark. State game is a very scary game. Especially if Auburn were to lose to Washington State in the first game. That program has had a lot of success lately. While Gus knows the players well, I'm sure they know him well as well.

On offense they return their senior running back who I think transferred from Tenn. They have four starting OL returning, and a talented WR core. 13 starters return total. Auburn is obviously much more talented, but you gotta be focused with this kind of team or they could sneak up on you.

WIN 08/31/13 vs. Washington State Auburn TBA (Leach > Malzahn)
WIN 09/07/13 vs. Arkansas State Auburn TBA (Gus might get frozen twice in one year)
TOSS UP 09/14/13 vs. Mississippi State Auburn TBA
LOSS 09/21/13 at LSU Baton Rouge, La. TBA
TOSS UP 10/05/13 vs. Ole Miss Auburn TBA
WIN 10/12/13 vs. Western Carolina (HC) Auburn TBA
LOSS 10/19/13 at Texas A&M College Station, Texas TBA
LOSS 10/26/13 vs. Florida Atlantic Auburn TBA
WIN 11/02/13 at Arkansas Fayetteville, Ark. TBA (John L. Smith 24 Auburn 7 )
TOSS UP 11/09/13 at Tennessee Knoxville, Tenn. TBA
LOSS 11/16/13 vs. Georgia Auburn TBA
LOSS 11/30/13 vs. Alabama Auburn TBA

4 Sure wins
5 Sure losses
3 Toss ups

7-5 at best on the season. 5-7 at worse, imo.

If we start the season losing to a 3-9 Pac-12 team with multiple starting walkons, every game the rest of the season will be scary. Or just a 2012-style beatdown

That team returns 19 starters. You cant expect them to be trash again this year. Especially not in that offense.

They'll be improved just like we will be... We've got more talent and home field. No reason to think we don't win fairly comfortably (10 points or so).

I have no doubt we will be much more improved than them. I expect to win comfortably. We just simply have more quality players. And it looks like we finally have a capable coaching staff to go with it

The fact remains they are soft at OLine. You don't protect the QB the kind of offense they run won't matter.

Auburn can't afford not to be focused in any game. What team really can?

There coach seems to feel much better about this years squad compared to last year. Should be a solid team to start the season out with.

This is my exact rationale for why Arkansas will beat Auburn.

They return a whole bunch of shite on offense, sure.

4 of their 5 starting linemen were walk-ons at some point in their Washington State career. Let that sink in for just a moment.

I find it funny people trying to trash talk Mullen when their shitty coach couldnt even last 5 years- fired after putting up an 0-8

You can bet Mullen will never pull that shite off

Wait, you think Arkansas has more talent than Auburn? Well, uhhh, they don't.

Arkansas has some things working against them. They lost their best players from last season, the players that actually won games from them. People like Tyler Wilson, Knile Davis, Dennis Johnson, Cobi Hamilton, Chris Gragg, etc... They're also transitioning to a power rush based offense, from an offense that was pass happy. Do I even need to mention how bad the offensive line had played? The only positive for Arkansas in this game is the home field advantage.

Auburn upgrades at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and offensive line. Not to mention, the defense is expected to be better (I also believe Arkansas' defense will be improved).

Either way, Auburn has nowhere to go but up, while Arkansas could go down a little bit more.

I have no explanation for the 0-8 SEC record last season, but Auburn always has, and always will, have higher expectations than Mississippi State. It's much easier to hold a job there.
