LSU will have the best defense and best rushing offense. That's all I know.

Not an easy list to do and the defensive side was very difficult

Solid list but I have a hard time believing Arkansas will not be somewhere in the top five in terms of rushing defense.

Uga must find a Qb to be top 5 offense. Having chubb at 100% or not.

I think Harris will improve some while the rest of the conference is pretty much unknown at QB. Pretty difficult list to come up with.

Sure but the league is not deep in terms of QBs next year and I think Eason will do enough to get them in the top 5 but it was close between a bunch of teams for me. Plus you guys were 7th last year while having no QB and Chubb for half the year.

Ole Miss and Tennessee for sure, but every single other team is questionable. Major toss-up.

IMHO, Auburn will definitely be a top 5 rushing team in the SEC if (I say when) John Franklin III starts. He adds the dual threat nature to Auburn's offense that Nick Marshall and Cam Newton added.

He will thrive with Jovon Robinson assuming both play all season...

These aren't in 1-5 order but the teams I think will be in the top 5 of each category.

Rushing
Alabama
LSU
Arkansas
Tennessee
Georgia

Passing
Ole Miss
A&M
Alabama
Kentucky
Tennessee

Total Offense
Alabama
Ole Miss
Tennessee
A&M
Arkansas

Rushing Defense
Alabama
LSU
Ole Miss
Florida
Arkansas

Passing Defense

Alabama
Georgia
A&M
Florida
Vanderbilt

Total Defense

Alabama
LSU
Florida
Georgia
Vanderbilt

I don't think Vanderbilt will win a lot of games; but teams won't have to score a lot of points to beat them and probably won't throw much when they get the lead.

Note, unless UGA figures out it's passing game, I don't think we belong anywhere on the top offenses other than rushing... but...

quote:

Top 5 Passing Offenses
Top 5 Passing Offenses: Not Auburn.

quote:

Top 5 Total Offenses: Auburn

These 2 just don't compute for me. Are you thinking Auburn is sitting in the 6-8 spot? Without that, are you near doubling the rushing output for team 4-5? Just looking at 2015's top 5 in each category, the passing offense leaders generally take home the total offense top spots as well.

2015 Total Offense
2015 Passing Offense
2015 Rushing Offense

Miss State good example. 2nd ranked passing offense, 10th ranked rushing offense, still in the top 5 of total (4th).
LSU sort of the opposite. 1st ranked rushing offense, 12th ranked passing offense, 7th in total offense.

Not saying it's impossible that Auburn would be in top 5, but it would seem that a viable passing game will be a necessity for that to happen.

ETA: I think it's entirely possible that you could have a top rated *scoring* offense with just a decent run game and a good turnover margin, but to land a top rated "total offense" which is measured in total yardage and/or yards/game, a successful passing game is more often than not a key component.
