A city outside of Austin just had a roughly 10,000-acre wildfire. The whole city smelt like smoke.

We are just getting started but nationwide it is looking like this is the worst year ever for wildfires.

I do not deny that there has been a time where Lightning hit the perfect dry spot and created a fire, but most of the time it’s human dunbasses that’s causing it.
The “wildfires” that almost burned up Portland several years ago stopped when they posted drone/helicopter/satellite images of people starting fires on the side of the road where the fires broke out.

the antifa figs on here don't want you to say that, even though it's a real concern

I have never been to Arkansas but I think of it as having a ton of forest...how much of an issue are wildfires there?

Usually not too big of a deal.... but right now with the high winds once one gets going there's a lot of pine kindling to get a fire ramped up on steroids if it ever starts.

Are these recent storms naturally occurring? I have my doubts.

We normally don’t have them. The small rural volunteer fire departments and the forestry commission did a good job last night with limited resources

Definitely not natural. Your mom’s arse went into reverse and started sucking instead of blowing.
Most of the state reported 50+ mph gusts which is well above normal for non-mesocyclone events

Might be the most costly because this year hit some ridiculously high value real estate but the burnt acreage is about 38% below the ten year average.
The wildfire in Southern California early this year was tiny in terms of acreage. Was about 57.6k. The one in Texas/Oklahoma last year was more than a million acres by itself.

The antifa figs have also moved the dry line from its historical location along the 100th meridian to where much of the time it is sitting along the 98th meridian and at times even east of that.
As a result, the antifa figs are causing drier conditions in states like Arkansas... thus ripening the conditions for things like wild fires and tornadoes in Arkansas and points east.
Damned antifa figs!!

Alabama had a problem with "controlled burns" last couple weeks. I guess the controlled part is only optional.

I have never been to Arkansas but when I think about it I think of Jerry Jones, track and field, and where the red fern grows.

Arsonists are pure lowlifes.
We had a classic firebug a few years ago. He set a blaze that took out several historic buildings. Was from out of state and had zero connection to the area. It just happened that his car had broken down here and he was waiting to get it fixed. Definitely a weird compulsion and slightly different from your arsonist who does it to get back at someone or for insurance. But all the same, it is so damaging to lose everything that way all at once.
