On Monday College Football will have it’s 4th legitimate National Champion. It’s been a long time, but I’m glad they finally did it in 2014.

In. It's no different than all of the fraudulent national championships Alabama claims.

UCF took care of them the first time. They didn't need a do-over to beat them.

Call it what you want. I call it a second observation.

They beat Auburn once. And by a larger margin than UCF did when they beat them once. In the same stadium, under the same environmental conditions, no less.

I'll call it a do-over, because that's what it is.

Georgia is down two points, even if you give them credit for their do-over.

This is almost as bad as USC claiming an '03 Championship.

And who is to say that Auburn wouldn't beat UCF if they had a "do-over?" Perhaps by a larger margin than they beat UGA when they beat them. Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. But there's a data point missing.

In regards to UGA, UCF can make a claim (assuming UGA beats Bama), but it's based on incomplete information. If Bama beats UGA, then UCF has a stronger argument.

In our subjective world of college football, everyone will just have to decide for themselves if UCF has a better claim than UGA. We know what UCF thinks. We know what you think...I think.

BTW, I agree with you about things you said in other threads. Yes, if college football is going to claim that the opportunity to win an "official" national championship is equal for all teams, then something needs to change. Otherwise, call a spade a spade.

The biggest data point missing is the UCF loss. They have none.

It's 2017. We shouldn't still be in a system where one of the FBS conference champs can go undefeated, and still sit behind 11 other teams.

I like the idea of a group of 5 playoff biggest thing in the way is the contract with the current system and the pay day for example UCF got

I think they are getting solid money from the current system.

It is time to have an honest discussion though- no group of 5 is going to pass an eyeball test and get into final 4 regardless of what they do.

That really depends. If Georgia beats Alabama, then Georgia is the rightful NC. If 'Bama wins, then I would view them as sharing the NC with UCF.

Yep. It's funny to me that posters here were pretending that teams like UCF had a realistic option of whether to agree to the playoff or not.

Agreed. UCF schedules two P5 teams OOC every single year. The committee just told them and everyone else, that no matter what they do, they're not getting in.
