Vandy coaches do get canned so there are SOME expectations. You can look at it two ways

1. the best job is the job where you can reach the highest level of achievement

2. the best job is the job where you can have a nice quality of life.

Bama would be 1

North Carolina would be 2

Here is the list of the most prestigious jobs in college football.
1) Notre Dame
2) Texas
3) Alabama
4) USC
5) Ohio State

Yes, this is right.

It's true.

Look at what Bama did for DuBose and then Saban.

Not sure what happened with that Shula kid though.

During Saban? Absolutely.

After Saban? Hell no. Who the hell would want to follow that act? No matter what they do they’ll be a letdown. They’re literally following in the footsteps of the greatest of all time and there is nowhere to go but down.

Far from the greatest job after Saban.

Bama is a good Job but Saban makes it look easier than it actually is.

I think the next guy will show up and realize recruiting nationally isn’t a Bama things. It’s a Bama + Saban thing.

Funny how Bama is the #1 job now but never was top 10 in these polls before Saban arrived.

So, basically, whoever is winning = best job + Texas.

Bama will be the worst for HC after Saban retires for about 5 years. Expectations will be monumental. Yikes.

Hmmm.

Namath was from Pennsylvania.
Johnny Musso was from New York.
Shaun Alexander was from Cincinnati.
Plenty more before Saban.

I’m not saying that there won’t be a drop off after Saban retires, but he has made Bama a national brand, nearly on par with Notre Dame. That won’t change.

I agree with the posters above who predict it will be miserable trying to follow Saban. I predict at least the next three coaches get fired rapidly in revolving door fashion.

Alabama has always been one of the top jobs. The trouble with it before Saban was hired were the previous years with the sanctions etc. It left the program in a bad state.

But Alabama has always been a school that spends the resources and will do what it takes. The reason why Saban came to Alabama to start with, and has stayed for the past 12 years.

It's not going to change when Saban retires.

You know how I know you didn't start watching football until sometime after the year 2000?

Why isn’t Texas better than they are if they’re the fourth ranked job?
