I admit it looks bad for my Tigers, but who in the world bets on AU basketball? If you are betting on AU basketball, you have a gambling problem. Does Vegas put a line out for swimming or equestrian?

The people who arranged the shaving certainly bet. I'll be interested to see how deep this goes. In most cases, someone puts the player up to the shaving with promises of sharing winnings or not being killed.

It's not a reflection on Auburn. Its a reflection on one idiot. Auburn did the right thing by notifying the authorities immediatly.

They were 12-4 against the spread during SEC play. Pretty solid

perception is reality. if media says "Auburn", then "point shaving" it is at least a PR problem

doesn't matter if it's Duke/UNC or Auburn/Long Beach St..... money is still green, regardless.

Actually, some people prefer the lesser known games b/c odds makers know less about them... if you've got a good feel about a lesser known team, you're gonna play them.

Great thread. Good thing we didn't have a stickied thread on this, full of similar thoughts and opinions.

if I were to fix a game Id want a very low profile game that no one watches like Alabama or Auburn etc etc. You would have to be an idiot to fix a game like UNC/Duke Syr/UConn too many eyes on those type of games

I took AU -1.5 v LSU when I was out in Vegas last week. The only problem I had was that it was one of the few games I actually won.

I've made quite a little bundle on teams I didn't even know had a freakin school, let alone a basketball team.

If the fix is in, it's not gambling. It's damn near guaranteed money.
