Pretty sure the Appalachian Trail starts or ends in Alabama (depending on how you look at it)

All I ask is that we do away with "permanent traditional rivals" and we stop calling them pods. You can have 4 divisions. Hell, it's the SEC, I'm sure we get down with the 4x4.
Western div- Tejas, OK, A&M, Mizzou
Delta div - LSU, MSU, OM, Ark
Central div - Bama, AU, UT, Vandy
Eastern div - UF, SC, KY, UGA

Totally agree. Scheduling is going to come down to tradition vs equality. While I hate to lose some annual rivalry games, I'm in favor of the equality of a 9 game conference schedule, playing your division/pod every year and the 12 other conference teams every other year.
While its not very creative, I like the old NCAA basketball tournament bracket names for the four divisions. Its clear and concise.
West
Midwest
Mideast
East

Give us Arky instead of AM or just put us with AM, UT and OU.
Needs to be pure geographical imo.

Do these pods have non-pod permanent match ups?
Let's see. 9 conference games, 3 within pod, 2 in each other pod.
I could see A&M having a permanent with t.u., Alabama with LSU, Georgia with Auburn, Florida with Tennessee, South Carolina with Missouri and Vanderbilt with Kentucky.

No. We made it very clear that our terms of agreement to a 14-0 vote were that we weren't in a "Big 12 pod".

And you know this, how??
Not having the two Texas schools in the same pod is dumb and makes them both look weak.

So what the SEC network suggested a week ago? You're a genius.

Pretty sure there’s some access trail in Sylacauga, AL, which is outside Birmingham.

I'd rename the App Pod as the Central Pod. Tuscaloosa and Auburn wouldn't like the idea of being called Appalachia
Doesn't really matter. Everyone will just call it the Tide Pod.

What a surprise.

It makes more sense for Arkansas to be in the Delta division than A&M. Like it or not, they have perpetuated that " Battle for the Boot" as an annual thing for LSU/Ark football. Ole Miss and Arkansas has become a thing. For baseball, that division would be stacked. A&M is still a relative newcomer and they've really only become relevant in the last few seasons and still haven't won anything. The A&M vs Texas rivalry is >>> LSU vs A&M, so much so that it has framed much of the discussion about adding Texas and OU to the SEC in the first place.

Yeah but people seem to think putting TX, OU, A&M all in one pod and LSU in with only ARK, OM, and MSST is unfair

Its southern terminus is in northern GA. There have been talks to extend the AT to Alabama though.
Northeast Alabama is most definitely a part of Appalachia
