This happened in basketball. Michigan's head coach took another job and wanted to stay but Bo Schembechler wouldn't let him (I believe this was the origin of "Michigan Man"). Steve Fisher took over and won it all and eventually recruited the Fab Five.
That Michigan team was a 3 seed and ranked top 10 in the AP poll.

Joe Judge has never called plays in his career. He’s doing it during the playoffs. That’s a steep learning curve.

Would Kiffin get a ring? I know in the pros if a player was on the team at all during the season they do. I feel like they wouldn't give him one though - I wouldn't

OM is not getting in the playoffs. The offensive staff departure will cause the committee to drop them out.
