I will say I think TT is a true threat in the playoff. No one will just line up and be able to run on that defense. You will have to have a good passing game.

They may or may not be for real but they don’t deserve to be ahead of Ole Miss

Probably for crushing #11 and # 12.

As an OM fan I’m not offended by that ranking. TTU is for real. We have a couple of good wins but didn’t play the toughest SEC schedule.

What offends me is Oregon being ranked ahead of OK; they haven’t beaten anyone. Their best win is against an unranked 6-4 Iowa, and a 6-4 MN. No other wins over a team above .500. Oregon is enjoying a ranking that would be deserved only if/when they beat USC.

OU better pay attention to Mizzou and LSU.

How so? Texas Tech can do some serious damage this year. I honestly probably put them only behind Ohio State and Georgia.

A few other thoughts.

Texas is eliminated.

Will be real interesting to see if Alabama makes and then loses the SEC Championship. I know there was precedent last year regarding a conference championship loss with SMU but I have a feeling this year could be different and they could slide out for a 2 loss Miami, Utah, or BYU.

I would rather UGA be in Bama's #10 slot. That looks like the easiest path to the championship and it has a warmup game against a cupcake.

Wins by projected playoff-bound teams over other playoff teams:

1 Ohio State- 0
2 Indiana- 1
3 Texas A&M- 1
4 Georgia- 1
5 Texas Tech -0
6 Ole Miss- 2
7 Oregon - 0
8 Oklahoma- 1
9 Notre Dame- 0
10 Alabama- 1
13 Miami -1
24- Tulane -0

Total SEC: 6
Total B1G: 1
Total ACC: 1

I think we are in if we beat Auburn. Regardless of the SECCG. Unless a total blowout.
not if Tech loses the big 12 CG

Yep the committee isn't following their usual leanings having ND where they do in front of Bama. They used to reward nice wins more than nice losses.

It's not obvious right now, but ND doesn't control its own destiny. If Bama wins the SEC and Tech doesn't win the big 12 CG, ND would be out.

If Notre Dame wins out, they will be in the playoff. Period.

If Tech beats UGA.. how can UGA be ranked ahead of Alabama?

in the scenario I laid out, they would be left out.

SEC 5 (Bama and the 4 ranked above ND now)
Big ten 3
Acc 1
G5 1
Big 12 - 2 (big 12 winner and 11-2 Tech, which would have played an extra game after being well ahead of ND in the rankings)

This doesn’t have a great chance of happening, but if Alabama and BYU win their conference while the other teams also win, it could get interesting.

Tech beat a weak BYU team and a weak Utah team, neither of which have beaten anyone but each other. Tech lost to a bad ASU team that lost to State.

Ole Miss lost on the road to UGA by one score and beat OU and Tulane along with an SEC schedule.

Tech is a 3 loss team in the SEC. BYU and Utah have no business being close to the Playoffs.

Tech would clean your clock aggy. All the mentions in here about them tell me everyone does not want them on their schedule. You should drop 2 spots for playing a high school this late in the season.

Why they show Miami and Tulane is beyond me...

Miami needs help to make the ACC Championship game

ESPN is so dumb...

JMO, but a bad loss should absolutely be a factor. All losses are not equal. Alabama didn't lose to FSU the way they did to OU. They flat out were dominated that day.
