"Pizza-loving teen whose Papa Johns essay got her accepted to Yale chooses Auburn

“When I visited Auburn I was like, meh, until going to through the brain washing station. Then, I just knew it was the place for me. Even before the hypnotists and truth drugs fully took effect, the fambly atmosphere and the vacant, staring, wandering, lurching, walk-gait of the other zombies made me feel so part of something.”

I'd imagine it has more to do with costs.

I should have studied harder in high school.

Kids choosing Auburn over other prestigious academic schools is nothing new. We have a basketball player, Anfernee McLemore who was accepted to MIT

R.I.P. to her IQ. It'll easily drop 30+ points now.

Big deal. Bama had a kid who turned down EVERY Ivy League school to matriculate at the Capstone

I have heard of students turning down the University of Phoenix and a free laptop to go to the Capstone. They claimed the internet was better at Bama.

A lot of students say the turn down Ivy to go elsewhere. And, a lot less actually do, but it does happen. Ivy's are not for everyone. And, just because you graduated Ivy it doesn't mean you are smarter than others. I mean, heck, I post on SEC Rant. That isn't very smart.

When I was at AU, there was a popular joke making the rounds amongst in-state students:

"Getting a degree from AU is like eating at Denny's. You know it's not gonna be nearly as good as going somewhere else, but it's cheap and it's close to home."

I guess the 'cheap' part no longer applies.

That's a choice you certainly never had to worry about.

The biggest draw to Ivy League schools is the networking afterwords. For graduate degrees in academia, it's all about the reference letters.

The actual education is similar to most other research universities.

UPDATE:

LINK

Papa John's is providing her with a year of free pizza, a pizza party for her whole dorm, and an internship at Papa John's HQ in Louisville.

Included in the link is a video of a personal message from Papa John himself. In the video you can see Papa John is still salty that Auburn beat that Cardnial arse in 2015 as demonstrated by the visible butthurt on his face each time he has to say "Auburn"
