First one in 95 with Danny Ford but fired after consecutive losing seasons. The last in 06 with Nutt but fired a year later.

What are you talking about? Sam Pittman was THE OL coach at several big time SEC programs. He was absolutely known as the best OL coach in the game and was the Asst HC at UGA and Arky previously.
And you know what? He got his shot to be a HC. That's what happens in life. People hone their craft, get really good, are noticed by their peers, and if lucky, get to the top of their profession.

The guy is the man in my opinion; but you would think this dude won a natty with how the hog fans talk about him.
Man, after Chad Morris, winning a freakin' SEC game did feel like a natty.

Pittman is a casualty of the old adage, perception being the reality. No one passed on Pittman more than Arkansas though. You had him up close and personal and long claimed him as your own and yet couldn't see the obvious even in 2015 when he left Fayetteville for Athens.
every ark fan worth a frick woke up sick that morning after reading the headline "arkansas O line coach pittman to UGA". Just like UGA fans were in 2019. I personally melted hard. then the story about bert finding out about it, and grabbing up all of the O line players super early that morning hella fricking drunk because he had been up all night drinking, and hadn't passed out on top of Jen yet. He took them all to Sam's house, and sat on his knees at the door crying, and begging sam not to leave. then passing out on the side walk, and all the players having to work together to pick him up and chuck him into the back of the van he brought them in like they did Hillary Clinton. After hearing that story we all were relieved to know we were in great hands with a man who obviously was well prepared and thought ahead.

Happens everyday, people want splash hires, big names, funky offenses.
But hiring a good, old fashioned football coach has worked since the sport was invented.
Agree. Pittman is a good coach

The best line I've ever heard on Pittman...
"Sam Pittman is the Hoss Cartwright of College Football"...

Kirby recognized Pittman coaching abilities and his incredible recruiting skills. He did great at UGA and it’s wonderful he finally got a HC position. He has earned it
