Was Houston Nutt not a consistent 7 and 8 win coach? Maybe there were other factors involved in his firing idk I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure he was a solid 7-5 / 8-4 consistently

Houston Nutt was an egomaniac that couldn't get out of his own way. No doubt that most head coaches are that way but he continually let it cost him several games throughout his career at Arkansas, usually one or two every single year. It got to the point where he was starting to lose several really REALLY good recruits. A lot of the skill players that Petrino ended up with when we were so successful wouldn't have made it to Arkansas if Nutt had still been the head coach.

I don't think anyone who's being serious has anything other than respect for the man. He's a solid coach and seems to do it the right way.

Nutt went 18-16 with the best SEC running backs in Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis and Michael Smith.

That would have been a huge mistake if LSU hired Nutt.

Before Bert and Chad were here, Nutt had some of the most embarrassing losses.

These goobs bashing Nutt are nutts and obviously dont remember the times before he got here.

Nutt average 7.5 wins per in 10 years.

This is the good one tho.
Nutt was 42-38 in conference. Our combined record in SEC in the other years he didn't coach is 59-102 with 2 ties.

And stll some of our idiotic fans talk about him like he was the worst coach ever. You should see some of the silly rationale they come up with to discredit him. FYI the 10 years Nutt was here was the 10 yrs the SEC was down and out.

Arkansas has consistently driven coaches out of town for averaging 7-5/8-4.

Cool story. This has never actually happened. We have runt some coaches off that averaged those numbers, but not for that reason.

You should have said obese pigs with huge milk bags are often overlooked as leaders.

Nutt wasn’t the worst coach ever but his ego got the best of him.

He lived off Fords recruits, Matt Jones for 3 years and D dog for 3

The SECW was a fraction of what it has been recently under Nutt as well.

There is a reason he flamed out at OM and hasn’t been able to land a job since.

Heak Jerry Jones even turned him down as a RB coach

Arkansas State even turned him down

Nutt took us to one of those conference championships with a 9-5 (5-3) record.

We finished 2nd in the West but Bama was on probation

Nutt shared the 98 West title with State but lost the tie breaker to Atlanta. In 2002 Arkansas went to Atlanta because Bama was on probation so Arkansas wasn't the legitimate West champ. His only legitimate West title was in 2006 but in his ninth year.
