To be fair, PFF has him graded ahead of every other returning SEC QB except Tua. That would make him the #2 returning QB in the SEC, to be fair.
Is that fair?
Someone pee in your Cheerios this morning?
Who knows. PFF may decide to switch it up considering how much UGA's offensive personnel is in flux.

One note relevant here is that Wake Forest's talent level is considered the worst in the ACC as measured by 24/7's total team talent calculations. I find it interesting that Newman is able to be as effective as he was with relatively less talent surrounding him than his opponents.
That's true but they also run the Clawfense. That offense is very specific. We know because Dave couldn't get it started here and wound up costing Fulmer his job. It took Clawson several years to get it going at Wake.
I wouldn't call it a gimmick offense but it's specific and very different from what UGA runs.

Great. Now we get to hear an entire offseason about how Kellen Mond is the "Best Returning Quarterback in the SEC" based on those rankings.
Check again, cocksucker.

The Big Ten is absolutely a legit conference, and Fields plays in the East division, which is probably the #2 division in college football.

What? Newman is going to be surrounded by 5* linemen, running backs, and receivers now, so PFF will actually lower his projection?
You, sir, are an idiot.

No Way two dudes were worse than Starkel/Hicks. Metrics are flawed!

Meh. It's all about cohesiveness as a unit. I agree the talent level is there, but this isn't Madden. It's real life, and we need to see them put it all together before crowning them.

I don't even dislike UGA.

When you share the rating with Tua Tagovailoa but you only played meaningful minutes in 4 games, you don't count in this.

Yeah, fair point. What the hell is that play where the QB and the RB hold the mesh, and walk it up to the line of scrimmage. That's weird AF.
I do think Coley's play calling was actually better suited for a QB that has some running ability. Really flummoxed me all year with continually calling the inside zone with zero intention of ever having the QB keep the ball. DEs crashed down on the RBs with impunity. Newman will at least be better suited in this respect.

Well well well the true freshman from UCF is #13. Top 25 this year and top 10 next. We back.

I'm not sure how familiar you all are with the PFF methodology, but it's very much bullshite

22. ANTHONY GORDON – WASHINGTON STATE
Preseason Rank: 95; Week 6 Rank: 22; Week 12 Rank: 13
You don’t reach 5,563 passing yards and 48 touchdowns without exploiting all levels of the field like Gordon did this season. He was the highest-graded quarterback on all throws within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and led all quarterbacks with 3,217 yards and 22 touchdowns. He topped 300 yards in all but one game this season and even surpassed 400 yards in nine outings with multiple 500-yard performances to boot. Gordon was tremendous on all throws over the middle of the field and was the 21st-ranked quarterback all throws between the numbers. He led the country with 34 touchdowns on such throws and even had 14 big-time throws over the middle which also led the country.
I also thought this was interesting. Just another QB that the pirate picked up off the scrap heap and made into a stud. Should be fun to watch what he does at Moo State.

I disagree. They are some of the best in the business.

This was the most interesting part for me about Trask:
"However, Trask launched just nine big-time throws compared to his 22 turnover-worthy passes"
He really did have quite a number of throws that were really poorly placed, but were dropped by the defense.
