I like my story better. We fired him because we hated him.

Now we like him.

Huge difference.

Melt!

I actually agree, that term is overplayed here.

regardless, he only had one season under his belt at LSU so it's not like Kelly had a compelling case to retain him. New coach, new staff.

My larger point was he had been a DC for several years under Manny Diaz so it wasn't like he had only been a position coach and Mizzou said frick it make him DC. Neither LSU nor Mizzou would be throwing all this money his way if he didn't have more experience at DC than the picture some are painting.

You got one thing wrong. Baker never “left” LSU. He wasn’t retained by the new staff.

I didn't say why he left, I said he left. Which he did. He did not stay. He left.

And of course, you're missing the point entirely. Coaches leave programs all the time for a variety of reasons. Some are fired. Some take other jobs. Some quit coaching. But Coaches leave and programs remain and move on and oftentimes thrive.

As a Mizzou fan, I'm confident Mizzou will move on.

And when Baker leaves LSU...for whatever reason...LSU will survive and move on.

Older Mizz fans are used to getting beat.

Well, not necessarily. I'm older and I remember the 60's when we went 76-23-6 (.752) with the 6th best winning percentage in all of college football.

My story is Kelly was a cold Yankee but Woody knew what a fellow baw like Baker needed to hear.

I just wish Woody had let Kelly know weeks ago to shitcan House but I'm sure Woody had his reasons for letting it play out and not meddling too much.

Thinking of Woody reminds me of our shite men's basketball team. Rumor has it they open conference play tonight against Aggy. Should I bother watching? Haven't tuned in even once this season but usually I watch some conference action no matter how bleak the prospects are.

Why were you following football in the 60s? That was the era of sex, drugs, and flowers

You really buy that?

Recruiting angle I can maybe see but how many croots were eager to line up to play for a dead man walking like Matt House?

I mean yeah, who's coaching the bowl game if you fire those 4 guys?

if you fire all 4 at once, I see your point.

If you fire House end of November, leave the others in limbo and let them coach the bowl game while you hunt for House's replacement.

Maybe Kelly didn't want to distract from Jayden's Heisman campaign. Who knows. It all worked out.

I don't really care much about the non-CFP bowl games anymore with all the opt outs. They are only useful now for letting next year's players see the field.

OP is solid. Appreciate what he did at Mizzou and wish him well. Drink has to find someone to keep it rolling.
