I could live with that. I'd prefer it to be Texas, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma. But I could live with 2 out of the 3.

As much as I'd love to avoid it. LSU v Bama needs to stay a thing every year.

Not true. I remember this rivalry from my childhood. I enjoy it. I am far from my 70s

It’s not so important that it just has to be played every year but I wouldn’t downplay how good it was in the past.

Texas A&M and Oklahoma are the two that must be played every year.

It sucks, since only one team plays THREE Big Six opponents

Would prefer Floridaover LSU.

The Auburn/Florida rivalry dates back to 1940s.

I have no interest in playing Missouri. OU and bama should play every year. The two most storied programs in the conference.

It will change shortly anyway. Another round of expansion is about to happen. Main reason why GT, Clemson and FSU are the best three for the SEC to pick up. Matchups and eyeballs on the tv are the new driver, not as much new cities and areas. Bringing in those three clears a lot of scheduling problems.

Meh we don’t care about them. Our only rival is an empty bottle of bourbon.

Which classic games are you remembering? Was the campus all abuzz when the Razorbacks came into town?

I was weaned on college football as a kid before the rivalry fell off. By the time I got to campus nobody at Texas gave a sh!t. Whereas the Arkansas fans would always be off their rocker when Texas would visit. It's the game they circled every year. That was the case then. It's the case now.

If Texas lost a game and the score was announced at an Arkansas football game, everyone would go crazy. If Arkansas loses a game under the same circumstances, nobody at DKR would pay any attention, even with our WWE announcer trying to make a big deal about it.

There is a narrative this game is a rivalry, and that narrative might make it into one, but on the Texas side we're forcing something for commercial purposes that doesn't actually exist.

I understand it exists for you, but how many people share your same thoughts? Especially when you were on campus.

Maybe I just want LSU to be Texas' rival because it's one of those teams that everyone wants to play

Shhhh, you're not supposed to say that out loud.

Remember: No one cares about LSU, no one thinks about LSU, no one wants to play LSU.

I remember the games in the 80s and yes the campus was buzzing when they showed up. It suffered some for the same reason the Aggie games has suffered. It was rare for both Texas and Arkansas to be really good when they played, but that didn't lessen the hate we had for each other. It was especially bad there. Those road trips were rough. My dad took me to a few up there. I remember being pelted with ice all game.
That doesn't mean the game mattered much to you and other Horns during that time (I don't know when you attended) but it was important to me.

It's not a rivalry that just HAS to be played, but I'd enjoy it.

that's a little melodramatic don't you think? Of course people care about LSU. Isn't this an LSU site?
