traditional rivals from the Big 12?
That's an oxymoron. A&M was in the Big XII for 15 years. There's nothing "traditional" about harking back to a 15 year interlude.

Looch says a little birdie told him that A&M's permanents will be tu, LSU and Missouri. I am not even sure if he believes it.

Take it for what it is worth. Luicci seems to have insider info sometimes but he is wrong just as many times.

Tennessee is a big winner here.

Regardless of their permanent opponents, they're still gonna have to play all of the Big 6 at least once every 2 years.. plus Texas & Oklahoma.. plus Ole Miss and Texas A&M.. there is no where to hide with a 3/6 schedule.. all of our schedules are about to get a whole lot harder..

Yes, it's time for the LSU/Bama yearly series to end. It's not competitive and with the exception for a few seasons about a decade ago, it never has been. Not sure why everyone gets so fired up for this game.

I know how hard it is to put this together, so, don't take this as being overly critical, but it looks like your guiding light was tradition...

...for everyone but A&M.

Kind of stands out a bit. Maybe that's the way it will play out, but I'll be surprised if one of A&M's opponents is not a pre-2012 member of the SEC. This would be too much like being back in the Big XII for an exercise that is supposed to increase conference integration, not drive it backwards.

I completely understand that point of view.. but here is my thought process..

A&M wants Arkansas
Arkansas prefers Texas, LSU & Ole Miss over A&M

A&M wants LSU
LSU prefers Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida & Arkansas over A&M

but it isn't just isolated to A&M..

LSU wants Alabama
Alabama prefers Auburn, Tennessee & Miss State/Vanderbilt over LSU

But it's a lot easier for some schools..

Texas wants Oklahoma
Oklahoma wants Texas

Texas wants Texas A&M
Texas A&M wants Texas

Auburn wants Alabama
Alabama wants Auburn

When you combine the wants and needs for all 16 teams, it's a complicated puzzle no doubt.. but truly, the Missouri issue is the biggest problem. With a 3/6 model, someone has to play them..

Florida would be getting the short end with that.

How so? Because they want Auburn or Tennessee instead of LSU or South Carolina?

They may give Auburn > Alabama, Georgia & Florida, but that's a brutal schedule.

Does Florida really want Georgia, LSU & Auburn? + FSU + Texas/OU + Alabama/Tennessee + Texas A&M/Ole Miss etc etc

The leaks that are coming from College Station suggest Texas, LSU, and Missouri. I think most people understand that all 3 opponents may not be natural fits and would understand if we drew Missouri and two teams we had history with. But Missouri and Oklahoma is a bit much. I will be very surprised if we get that grouping.

FWIW we've played Auburn 85 times and played annually from 1927-2002. They were our main cross divisional game when the SEC used to have 2 annual cross divisional games.

Florida makes the most sense with GA, AUB, & SC

I'd be good with UGA/LSU/SCar too. Making Auburn play Bama/UF/UGA every year wouldn't be fair.

It's possible, but LSU won't be very happy if Ole Miss isn't on the schedule..

Perhaps they'll give them Arkansas, A&M and Ole Miss..

And then it has a snowball effect on Florida and Tennessee when that happens.. So Tennessee likely isn't getting Kentucky..

I wish they'd just tell us..

Who should be Oklahoma's 3 opponents?

Texas, Missouri and ??

They don't have history with anyone besides A&M.. it may happen though.. It was rumored to be Florida back when this all was 1st announced.. maybe that will happen again..

100% understand

If it were solely up to me, I'd ask Auburn one simple question..

You okay with Alabama, Georgia & Florida as your 3? If they said yes, it would happen.. But the SEC Offices may not look at it that way..

I don't see the SEC letting TN have both Vandy and KY.

Yeah it wouldn't be fair to Auburn so that's why I'm okay with LSU taking their spot.
Lots of great games though and it's the closest SEC school to UF. They lead the series 43-39-3.

I posted this one a different thread, but it applies here too..

I'm not a Gator, but I would think getting Auburn back on the schedule every other year, if not every year, would be a win. Of course, losing Tennessee puts it back at even.. maybe you'll get both as perm's with Georgia..

I don't think that at all, they beat us both times during the Urban and Tebow years. Very back and forth series outside of Spurrier's 7 game win streak. AU leads 43-39-3.

I think LSU gets Texas AM rather than UF. And Florida will get Tenner. And so forth into eternity...making all your excellent work irrelevant. Because Birmingham gonna Birmingham.

From the time I started reading this board, until the new schedule format started being discussed, we constantly had Auburn fans complaining about how the split into East and West divisions had deprived them of their historic rivals in the East (Florida and Tennessee), and that they should move to the East. Now, when given a chance to resume one of those old rivalries, I can just about guarantee that the Auburn AD has said, “Thank, but no thanks!” to having Florida as their 3rd annual opponent. I can understand why, but it is somewhat ironic.
