Just checked the source of this info. Some Unverified UGA journalism student with 4,000 followers. It’s not a report from rivals.
No, it’s from Dayne Young of the UGA Rivals site

I’m genuinely curious how he got eligible so quickly when all sources pointed toward him needing the entire summer to get to that point by the fall. Somehow he transfers to Georgia and he’s eligible June 1. Something just doesn’t add up. I’m thinking he still has work to do academically (and can get that done before the fall) given the same reports we’re coming out of Gainesville and LSU. They didn’t just make that stuff up.
As I’ve said elsewhere, there is a lot that could have taken place over the past 3 months. He could’ve taken late-enrollment courses in the Spring or Maymester courses that just wrapped up. He could have gotten his Fall courses waived due to hardship of a medical condition. He still has June and July to take courses.
Nobody can legally attest to what’s going on with his academic situation and everything said about it is just speculation with no way to confirm. But academic eligibility isn’t just a “hey NCAA take out word for it” issue like recruiting, it’s heavily documented and in this case involves documentation from two separate schools. Only way to cheat it is to go full UNC and obviously he hasn’t been in either place long enough for that to be an issue

Based on second and third hand reporting of numbers nobody can verify. Truth is nobody other than Arik, UGA, and LSU officials know where his GPA, credit hours, etc stand as of this morning. Reports that he is eligible may be presupposing he does what needs to be done in June/July. Or he could actually be eligible already by having completed coursework and filing appeals nobody else other than those with a legal right to know would have knowledge of.
But UGA didn’t take him in for the hell of it and word is that he is expected to play Game 1. If that happens, he managed to get eligible somehow and it’s nobody’s business but his of what his academic record looks like and what he had to do to make that happen

Game 1. If that happens
He isnt eligible right now

I think we’re arguing a petty difference here and one that neither of us can wholly prove/support

Not sure how that’s even possible to know right now. Plus he may or may not have a suspension looming. Game 1 seems highly improbable.

Maybe Georgia can make him reach his full potential.
LSU doesn't develop very well

UGA coaches and compliance have communicated to one of our Rivals guys that he will be eligible. I don’t know how or what timeline it’ll take for that to occur but that sentiment was echoed by Rusty Mansell via a podcast episode this morning too

Unless he was suspended by LSU’s disciplinary board for a non-academic reason before he left the school, a suspension by the football program (particularly without an arrest involved) has no impact on his ability to play at UGA

Do you know if he was on a FB scholarship while at LSU in the spring?
Posted on 6/2/21 at 11:09 am to DaRagingTiger
No idea. In theory he could have been but he entered the portal so LSU could have released him from his NLI at any time. Not sure if an open records request would be able to reveal that timeline

I just wish Auburn would cheat better, like Georgia.
Seems like you do to me, you bought Cam Newton and won a national championship.

I think it's probably just a matter of semantics in how it's being reported depending on the source. I do believe he may very well be eligible academically by the fall season but may not be eligible as of right this moment. So you have LSU having said there's a plan in place for him to be eligible to play in the fall and then UGA saying, in a different way, essenitally the same thing. The two are just being intepreted differently by the way everything is presented.

don't disagree at all. And I don't think UGA is cheating because, like you said, absent manufacturing fake grades, it's impossible to "cheat" through the NCAA clearinghouse, he either has the grades/credit hours or doesn't. And to my knowledge, he's been taking online courses at LSU so it's not like UGA woulkd have been in a position to do antyhing with his academic record up to this point

Yeah I'm not sure an FOIA request would even be privvy to records like that

It's very possible that neither LSU nor UGA want to get deep in the weeds on this guy. LSU knows how they got him to Baton Rouge to begin with.

First George Pickens, now this moron. Unbelievable, really.
This should have been the end of the thread right here. How did it get to 4 pages?

Probably because both would be eligible at other sec schools too. Dumb posts like that should never end a thread.

He wasn't eligible at LSU or Florida.
Posted on 6/2/21 at 1:19 pm to 1BIGTigerFan
He was on a path to ncaa eligibility. Unless LSU and uf have left the ncaa.....
