Seems like Ryan Day and James Franklin have ego issues in opposite ways.

Day wants to prove his team is tough sometimes and over runs it when he has immense passing talent.

While Franklin wants to prove his team has finesse and speed by throwing it a bunch while running it his by far the team strength.

There's more to it than that.

Once you get pegged as a running team, it gets hard to recruit top shelf receivers and QB's. And vice versa. Teams try to stay balanced for a variety of reasons both in-game and off-field.
