Pool people

Do any of you have one of those vacuum cleaners for your pool that you don’t have to hook up to a hose? It is battery operated and operates like a household vacuum. I’m not talking about the robot. I am picking up getting one when I just have a few spots on the bottom of my pool. Otherwise, I’ll just use my robot.

Quick question. I had a terrible time last year with bugs eating my tomatoes. I was told ashes can keep bugs out of your vegetable garden. Is this true? If so, how much and how often? Do you just spread it on like sevendust? Thanks.
