This is a hot button topic, since it comes around every year. Sadly players like LF7 and others I've learned had to give up their businesses to play college football. I remember hearing about a basketball player selling tee shirts and it created a bit of a stir.

If you are nit going to pay these athlete-students at least alliw them to keep their businesses or TREAT GHEM IN THE SAME MANNER AS THOSE ON ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS in regards to making money for themselves.

wut

athletes not only have the entirety of their school paid for, but they have free access to top notch health care, free food, free housing, round the clock tutoring and academic assistance, not to mention the fast track to the campus's best snatch. And your good players are basically using this as a tryout to make it to the big leagues anyway where they'll go on to make millions.

Athletes get well over 6 figures' worth of total compensation. They don't need to get paid outside of the stipends they already are.

Football and basketball need to do it just like baseball. Go make your money out of high school if you like. Should not be forced to go to college.

This thinking is a problem if you dont have a problem with a guy on an academic scholarship(everything paid for) can get an extra 5k per semester for being in student government and can make money off a book about his college experience and from a website he created.

How about letting them go straight pro instead of college... let the minor leagues develop them. Most college athletes today are not college material so quit cheapening the academic requirements to allow subpar students in...

All people are saying is that they shouldn't be paid, without no real reason as to why. Some try to bring up their costs for tuition and fees as a reason, but when you mention those on academic scholarships get those same perks.....But they CAN MAKE MONEY any way they please (book deals, website sales, sponsorships and even get extra money for being in student government)

And even when you say treat those on athletic scholarships the same as those on academic scholarships they still say no for some reason.

player A has a tshirt business and can sell too high roller boosters for 1k a shirt. Sounds fair cuz this is a way for big time boosters to give benefits. If you cant see this then you are too stupid to be posting.

They get paid The equivalent of $50,000 a year or more now and NCAA rules do not prevent them from getting a part time job.

I've got a better idea. Get rid of athletic scholarships entirely and treat them like every other student. I'm sure they'd like that, right?

Don't make this complaint on a college football site.
Your issue is with the professional leagues that have rules preventing the kids from making money.

College sports have always been amateur. The colleges aren't keeping anything away from the kids. It is the professional leagues and their rules keeping these kids from making money.

You do realize they do get some cash money now. They get between $4000 - $5300 per year as a stipend for living expenses.
