Perception: "Without Mullen, State will go back to it's losing ways. They have the worse College town ever(even though I've probably never been there), the ugliest girls(even though I've probably never seen them), and they have never one a national championship in anything. I mean, their all time record against the SEC teams is laughable! They will get 6 wins, 8 at the most next year without Mullen."

Reality: State beat Louisville and Lamar Jackson without Mullen and Grantham. For the bowl game, State had their RB coach calling plays on offense and serving as HC, and their Safeties Coach calling plays on Defense. GA's were promoted to position coaches. Not to mention they were without their starting QB and had to play a True Freshman.

From this victorious Bowl game without their HC, OC, DC and starting QB, they return:
- 10 of 11 starters on Defense
- 10 of 11 starters on Offense
- 360 of 404 offensive yards
- 55 of 61 total tackles
- 4 of 4 defensive interceptions
- 5.5 of 6 defensive sacks

Overall they return:

- 3265 of 3272 rush yards from 2017
- 2170 of 2170 passing yards
- 1732 of 2170 receiving yards(bringing in three composite 4* WR, all 6'3"-6'4")
- 40 of 47 Touchdowns

- 11 of 13 defensive interceptions
- 32.5 of 36 defensive sacks
- 79 of 86 tackles for loss
- 15 of 17 forces fumbles

Judging by what we did without Mullen in the Bowl game, I think Moorehead will be just fine. Yes, MSU has sucked for a century, but in 2018, we will be very good. Take the name off the helmet and consider what this 9-4 SEC team is returning. We are returning TWO 1st-team All-SEC defensive lineman in Sweat and Simmons, and word is Last Chance U star Chauncey Rivers(EMCC screwed his transcript and he had to sit this year, 2 to play 2) might be the most NFL ready of the 3. That, is a scary reality for the rest of the SEC.

Time to open your eyes SEC. Yes, we have sucked in the past, but right now, in real life, perception aside, we are a top 10 team for 2018.

Perception is this is a good win, reality says it's not.

Condensed Reality: We return a shite ton of production and have proved that we can win without Mullen on the sideline.

If Shoop is as good as most say as DC ( I need to see it before I believe it) and if Joe Moorhead is the offensive genius, could be a solid team with so many returning. You are right about one thing, Chauncey Rivers. As good as Montez Sweat was, he was beaten out last spring by Rivers who had to sit out the year. That gives us two freak pass rushers on the ends with a solid interior line, Time will tell how fast everyone adjusts to new coaching schemes.

Do not need to win it all. Just the Southeastern Conference. Playoff Berth will help that as well.

Works for me. I'm actually pretty interested to see what Moorhead can put together down the road at Starkville.

Similar to Auburn that doesn't mean you'll finish that way. One of the difficulties of life in the SEC West is you can be a top 10 team but a mass top 25 loses. :)

Because I like Mississippi State ok, and I think the fans deserve some fun as much as any other SEC West team not Alabama. I also feel kind of bad for them that their coach split for another school.

For the record, I like Ole Miss ok too in spite of you sons a benches kicking our arse a couple times recently.
