Part of SEC Network deal could be to "level" the schedule....

Was listening to the radio yesterday and they were talking about the new SEC Netwrok deal. Brought up a interesting point, part of the deal could be the SEC would have to "level" the schedule.
Meaning don't put all the good games on one weekend and the next have ok matchups. This could interfare with games like TSIO, WLOCP, Aub-GA game and other rival games having to be moved around.
Do you think all this extra money is worth the way the SEC seems to be changing?

It's about money, so yes, they will adjust the schedule if they need to, to have at least one marquee matchup per week.
Not sure what changes that might actually make, but are any of the true marquee matchups on the same weekend anyway?

The SEC is changing anyway. You add in two members you should expect everything to change.

I doubt those are the game's they're referring to although they have been played on non traditional dates in the past

No it doesn't. You can leave many rivalries and their times intact while still spreading it out better.

I don't see how that really makes a lot of sense. That's going to dilute the selection caliber for the SEC Network. I assume the SEC Network will get slot #3 (behind CBS and ESPN). Unless, they want to move some high-caliber games before CBS starts broadcasting, which is probably what they're trying to do. Good luck trying to get that one worked out lol

I was just throwing out those games because they seems to be the same week every year.

Exactly. Don't have other big matchups fall on those days. I think with the number of great teams in the league though some weekends will necessarily require a few big matchups.

Noted that only bama's & AU's "good games" are mentioned as being worthy of saving. ESPN will have a lot of sayso in the league's scheduling but that fine print won't make the front pages of the sports sections around the league. Do you honestly think the suits in NY will give a crap bout SEC traditions, let alone days played & starting times? It runs college football now. Wait till it gets a multi multi million dollar contract in place. Just curious...how many bama alums work for ESPN in NY? Or will?

Don't worry. The Egg Bowl is safe. No one gives a shite about that game.

I would like to see less of the "cupcake" weekends. Seems like about the 3rd to last weekend of the season, right before everyone starts the rival games, the whole SEC plays cupcake teams. Makes for a shitty weekend of football.

By "level the schedule" they mean that Alabama has to play itself once every other year, just to keep the competition fair.

Agreed. Spread those games out, so we can have one or two decent games that weekend.

Because these are the only games that matter

They also brought up that if ESPN get the network (almost positive they will) they may start to put the #2 game on the SEC network sometimes instead of the main ESPNs. To force more people to get that channel to see the games.
The did the same thing when ESPN 2 came out. No one cared about that channel until the Thursday night games started coming on it.

Considering the fact that your examples never occur on the same weekend (TSIO, WLOC, DSOR), I'm not too concerned.
