Impressive. But...

I can knock that because it is nowhere near the scale of what the Celtics and Patriots have done.
The Red Sox do not belong anywhere near that conversation of the Bill Russell Celtics and Tom Brady Patriots.

Oh I know they don't

I'm just saying... If you're a Boston Sports fan in your 70s-80s

You've seen a lot.

Meanwhile you got people in other cities that haven't seen shite.

Absolutely, true.

The red sox are currently the premier organization in baseball.

Young fans in Boston only know winning.

Back during the Celtics run, Boston fans were the worst winners.
Despite more winning, I don't know if that still rings true today

I did say he was great

My point is most people really don't talk about him like they do other sports super stars. It's not his fault, that's more on the NHL and their product. It is way different than what it used to be. And Gretzky was one of my childhood favorites growing up. I think you hear more about his daughter now-a-days, rather than him.

Brady has had his moments. But, I thought last night's performance was less than impressive.

Largely because he tends to stay out of the spotlight since his coaching career didn't pan out.

Bill Russell. MY frickING arse.

The guy played with like double figures of hall of fame players.

Bill Russell getting all the credit for that dynasty is a joke. I don't think as much of Brady as others but I would put Brady above a Russell

Bill Russell wouldn't even make the starting five of an all time NBA team

Because no one will touch him in terms of greatness at that sport
And espn doesn’t have hockey so you don’t hear them consistently talk about it

The closest guys to him in this day are Crosby and Ovechkin. (And I say closest and they are still not close)
Crosby doesn’t score enough and even ovechkins best ever is not on the same level as Wayne

Mario you could say was close and if he did not miss what 7 or 8 years due to cancer and short retirement may have surpassed him in many stats. He may have been the only one that had a chance

He missed the 93-94 season then came back.
Then retired in 97 and came back in 2000.

He was probably the closest in that time (I was talking about among todays players), but didn't come close to Gretzkys scoring numbers of 70-90 goals 5 years in a row. Or his assist numbers.

If Wayne Gretkzy scored 0 goals in his entire career he'd still be first all time in NHL points history.

did the op mention the athlete's twitter followers or facebook likes? No, he said best player ever, and gretzky absolutely deserves in the conversation. He is so ridiculously far ahead of anyone else that might be considered the 2nd best hockey player it's almost unfathomable. Here's something to put it in perspective...if you took away every goal gretzky ever scored in his career, he would STILL be the nhl' all-time leading point scorer. In other words, he has more career assists than anyone else that has played has goals and assists combined.

This can't be said enough in this thread.

Wayne is far and away one of the GOATs of Sports.

And I think no one talks about him because it's not even a debate.

Every other sport you have a debate except hockey.
