Yes, SEC'rs, you will now understand what a unique rivalry OU Texas is. So big, so dominant, there are people here who NEARLY don't care what happens with the entire season , SO LONG AS WE BEAT TEXAS. A game so unique, it's played annually mid-way between both schools. Half the stadium red, half the stadium orange. The conference shifting is merely an afterthought...we've gone Big 8 to Big 12 to SEC....OU - Texas is really ALL that mattered. Of course, at OU we have other goals but this game will endure above all others.

You're welcome for the education. :)

This game was why we didn't care about A&M leaving. This was the good rivalry game. The other one was uh just beating up on little bro. Not a lot of emotional investment tbh.

A rivalry so big, it’s generally been played at 11:00 in the morning the last few years.

A rivalry so big, a few years ago more people watched an A&M/Rice game that was on at the same time.

This game is SO important that this is pretty much the first thread about it I’ve seen since this whole fiasco unfolded.

OU posters have made more A&M / TU threads alone than anyone has made for the RRS altogether.

Nobody gives a shite about that here and Texas has sucked so bad for so long it’s been almost meaningless unless OU loses. Nobody cares.

I mean really, think about that:

A&M vs RICE was on at the same time as OU vs tu, and more people watch A&M/Rice.

That’s pretty much exactly how important that game is.

I mean, at least when OU played Kansas St or Iowa St, there was a chance they’d lose.

Neither of those offer the opportunity for both sets of fans to spend gobs of money on hotels, party on friday night, drive to some shady area of dallas early saturday morning, buy a nasty corn dog or funnel cake at the fair, and then hope you dont get robbed leaving the fair.

They just dont compare.

I actually think most of my posts are about Alabama. Maybe LSU. I don't actually make a lot of aggy threads.

I actually agree w this. It’s an event all in its own right. Almost completely different categories of things.

If RRS was later in the season and had more dire post season implications more frequently, especially post 2012, it’d be a way bigger hate match.

As of right now it’s just a bunch of kids playing carnival games and there’s a football game happening 25 yards away.

The conference championship being a repeat game takes away some of the shine tbh. Although that didn't matter in 2008 when we won but still got screwed out of the title game.

We don’t have good rivalry’s here in the sec anymore. Bama has ruined them by making them all meaningless.

Meh.

Georgia-Florida is much better...better and more scenic setting on the river and near the ocean.

Cotton Bowl in Dull-arse is exactly that.
