OU and Texas fans: how do you feel about the game being in Dallas?

still for it, or should it be moved to Norman and Austin?
As a neutral observer, I think it should be on campus, but I care nothing about fairs plus the Cotton Bowl is a dump located in the ghetto.
If they're gonna play it in the Dallas area move it to Jerry World.

Favorite game of the year. Wouldn't change a thing
JerryWorld would take almost all of the positive things about the atmosphere away

It’s fine the way it is.
That’s why it’s always a day game. There’s always extra LEO’s due to the game and fair.
As far as I’m concerned, Jerry World sucks for college football games.

It’s unique with the massive fair in the background. Not the best hood but there’s a dart rail stop right on the fairgrounds.
It’s a showcase weekend for the city of Dallas who are about to pour money into renovations.
All of the alumni in the area from both schools will do whatever they can to keep it, as long as the city doesn’t screw it up. Jerrah would love to have it of course.

No Dallas is a boring arse city and until you’re going to go drinking in Uptown, it’s boring. The State Fair makes the RRS a family event. Take out the fair, it’s boring af if you are just with adults. (Talking about Dallas, not games).

No true alumni or fan of either school would have this game anywhere else. October, historic Cotton Bowl stadium, state fair of Texas open and in full swing. Without that last part this would just be a neutral site conference game..home and home would be even less special.
The city of Dallas is actually spending some money to upgrade the Cotton Bowl a bit, (Wi-Fi expansion and a few other minor things) but even if they didn't UT would either buy the stadium (or lease) and/or both schools pump in money to keep the thing standing. The stadium itself may be old and frayed around the edges, but miraculously the city of Dallas does a good job keeping the grass turf in good condition.

Better for OU than it is TX.

It should stay in Dallas. Why change anything? Both schools receive value from the current arrangement otherwise it would not have been renewed with the City of Dallas and the State Fair/Cotton Bowl the last time it came up for discussion.
I am curious why it has been a topic on the Rant though. Why do other schools' fans care at all where the RRS is played?

What’s the payout? We were getting a few million a year to play at Jerry World.

We took DART to the fair 10 days ago from around the big airport. Don’t know if we ever will again. When you think it can’t get any more nasty, it does anyway. Would probably be better on game day though.

Should be moved. I know its geographically "closer" to Norman, but its in the state of texASS. The cops stop Okie drivers at a higher rate, hotels price gouge poor Sooner fans, restaurants use day old bread and spoiled meat whenever an Okie table sits down.
We know Okie isn't afraid to go into texASS and whip their asses. But its pretty obvious to me that the sips are scared to death to play in Norman.
Conf games need to be played at home. Birmingham needs to take action.

city of Dallas needs to raze everything within a one mile radius of the cotton bowl.

I've always enjoyed my trips to Dallas but that area is like Memphis West.

This is the greatest sporting event in American sports. Because it's at the Texas State Fair. 100,000 people inside the stadium split OU/Texas fans down the 50 and roughly 250,000 people outside of the stadium.
It will never leave Dallas nor should it

I don't think I have ever seen or heard any Longhorn or Sooner say the game should be moved from the State Fair. Some egghead consultant tried to argue how Norman would gain financially from going to home and home, but his proposal never got any traction.

quote:None of that shite is true, and reeks of projection because thats what Arkansas does to fans traveling to Fayettnam. There are probably just as many OU grads in Dallas as there are UT if not more...and it's a big city with an interstate running through it so out of state license plates are common, and not a target unless they're doing something stupid.

If we can keep just one land thief out of our state, I am all for it.
