It's quite a bit of money they are paying for coaches.

Brian Kelly actually made over $23 million a year.

Which is funny because he was complaining about 10 wins becoming the expectation at Ole Miss (imo setting himself up if this season ended up being a dud for them).

You gotta win 10 games per season and 1-2 playoff games most years and win a natty in the next... 4? Now at LSU

He has a chance to win a NC THIS year at OM and chose not to try. There’s something about this story that is fans of college football will never know. We know nothing of the conversation behind closed doors and we will never know. Things like this will remain sealed forever. People will post things as gospel who have no clue.

He gets Tiger Stadium, which is awesome. And he gets LSU fans, which are not.

He wanted better than good and he wasn't going to get that in Oxford pretty simple actually.

I think he wants to follow in Saban’s footsteps…go win a title at LSU, then go to Bama for the rest of his career

Gotta make that pro stop in between, unless we are already counting his time with the Raiders.

If he was going to Alabama would you have the same question?

You think LSU and Alabama are equal job positions? Honestly, I think bama is the better offer. Plus, he's been here... Would be like coming back to something familiar.

Nah… Kiffin just chickensh!7 his way out of a guaranteed playoff spot so he could go to a future possibility. If he was a championship caliber coach, he would be confident with what he had. I remember the old saying about Coach Bear Bryant…”he could beat your’n with his’n and beat his’n with your’n”. Kiffin is no Bear Bryant. He isn’t even Curt Cignetti. In there to four years I predict he won’t even be an LSU tiger. GTH LSU

But will also have double the expectations

College football head coaches are built different.

They don't think about job stability if they lose because they always think they will win.

Weren't the offers supposed to be the same? If so it isn't money, it is what Saban said yesterday.

We don't really know and time will tell if it works out.

Apparently, he felt like the only way he could get Ole Miss to that level was via the portal. Whereas at LSU he won't have to rely as much on the portal to maintain a level of excellence.

Acting like the resources are the same in Oxford and in Baton Rouge is just intentionally ignoring facts.

Over $60 million resources will be spent to pay the last guy and AD who were going to win championships at LSU.

Oh so you admit there are levels even though your post was “ what exactly does Lane gain by going to another SEC school? “ Do you think lsu and ole Miss are equals?

LSU is literally a top 3-4 easiest place to recruit.

People don’t realize the MASSIVE influence they have in Houston, hell my highschool sold LSU cups for fundraising.

Was thinking the same….would be poetic justice for him to end up at Bama in a few years

There's something to this, I think.
If he loses in the 1st round this year at Ole Miss, people start talking. It's year 6. Kiffin may never win one.

But at LLLsu it's year 1 all over again, so he gets some latitude to "build". So when he still hasn't won one in year 4, and LLLsu has to pay his buyout to fire him, he'll be 4 years closer to retirement and $50m+ richer plus his buyout money.

Lane wants to be the villain. You can’t reason with that.
