One man’s view of the SEC

Teams I suspect are good ( as in maybe playoff worthy):
UGA- A road SEC win with multiple comebacks in game in
a crazy atmosphere cannot be overlooked, plus we know they are talented. Don’t seem to be a juggernaut, but they have room to grow
OU - I think Michigan is overrated, but it was a good win and Mater just looks like a dude; beating the bad teams as they should
Jury is out (as in who knows) in no particular order:
Bama - beating 2 outmatched teams soundly doesn’t erase the FSU butt kicking. Some encouraging signs, but I’ll believe they can stop a running qb when I see it.
LSU - 3 struggle wins vs growingly suspect competition; D looks improved, but they haven’t played a great or even good offense; shockingly, the Tiger O looks anemic
TN - competed well vs UGA, but still an L. Other competition suspect
Misery - Ku win and 2 tomato cans doesn’t move the needle. Haven’t seen enough to have a strong opinion
Vandy - Playing well, but competition very suspect. VaTech is a disaster and USCe may be fool’s gold too
AU - Baylor was a goodish win, but Arnold doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt til he performs against a team with a better caliber of offense
Ole Miss - currently your SEC leader, but both wins against the bottom half of the league; starting QB hurt, but the D is suspect
Arky - good SEC showing on the road, but an L nonetheless. Arky State win looking a little stronger
State - Az St win is probably not quite as telling as it seemed, but it was a helluva game. Really like Shapen at QB
A&M- big road win vs ND, but that’s another team that I have no idea how good they are. Haven’t watched enough to have a strong opinion.
UTx - Sark is too good an offensive mind for them to look this terrible. The D looks solid, but something is wrong internally.
USC - OL is glaringly bad. Sellers struggling accordingly. D is just OK. This to me is the team from this group that might belong in the lower tier
Bad teams:
UF - D isn’t terrible, but Coach is a dead man walking; QB seems to be laying money on the opponent weekly. Abandon all hope.
UK - D is Ok, but the offense is laughably bad. Yeah.

Arkansas is no pushover. I wouldn't consider them bottom of the SEC at all. They will upset some teams this season.

And why would Michigan be "overrated"?
Based on what?

LSU Offense being Anemic is an understatement.

I don’t know if I’d label them overrated but their head coach is arse

Seems logical. I feel bad for Lagway...No development and playcalling that throws him under the bus. If Florida doesn't bring in a homerun coaching hire I hope he gets his butt in the portal. And that isn't to kick you Gators when you are down...you saw him play last year. Inexplicable.

And since the NCAA is now watching them they can’t steal signs as easily as in the past

Kentucky will still play us down to the wire.

Defense is loaded with NFL guys and one of the best defenses in the nation
RB is a stallion
TE is a stallion
Underwood running a new offense. He's young but talented.

On the surface I would have said Michigan is overrated too due to a less than impressive win over New Mexico to start the year and a loss in their only game of note... but New Mexico is actually a decent win (NM beat UCLA).
Michigan is probably ranked properly at #20 in the coaches poll right now.

Based on the fact that they are living off the rep of a coach that is now in the NFL, they were pretty mediocre last year and have a true freshman QB. Don’t get up in your feelings. I said OU was a team that was most likely really good.

This is probably the most well reasoned and honest response. Everyone gets their feelings hurt when you don’t say their team is awesome. Upvoted

Agreed. I put them in the who knows in no particular order category for that reason. They might be pretty good.

I'm not in my feelings. You're in yours.
I asked a simple question about why they would be overrated. Their roster says they aren't. So does the eye test.

You are definitely having some feels. It’ll be Ok.
Michigan is a big name school that won a championship 2 seasons ago. They have some talent, but the coaching isn’t even close to what it was. It may be fair to say that are properly rated now at around 20, but they were never a playoff caliber team.
UM eye test you have made is based off of what exactly? The game against OU? Or the big wins vs New Mexico and Central Michigan? They played one good team and lost in a game that was less competitive than the score.

What are you basing their "level of coaching" on? He seems to be coaching at least at the level of........DeBoer.
Eye test based upon what I've seen that they have and how they play. The only weakness they have, that I see, is maybe a lack of a big-time playmaker in their WR corp.
Their defense is loaded with dudes everywhere and they're deep. Especially in the front 7.

Gonna need some miraculous defensive improvements to be pretty good. If only we could just play offense. Well, I guess basically already did that last night.
