Bama fans, Aggies, Tigers, Vols, Commodores, Gators, Gamecocks, Razorbacks, Bulldogs, Rebels and Wildcats. We put aside our differences and became One America.
Sports are joyful diversion. Our country and the lives of our family, friends and neighbors, whatever small things divide us, are what truly matter. Bless all those we lost on that tragic day, and all those since.

Jealous of all the Aggies that got to go to this game after the attacks. It is many people's favorite memory of Kyle Field.

SC/Miss State was the first game played after 9/11. We won down in Starkville, but the tribute is what I remember the most from watching that.

So very true.
That's the event that our generation(s) will never forget. I was taking a vacation day and was set to meet with some friends for lunch and that restaurant altho busy as could be was eerily quiet everyone still stunned almost.

That is pretty sweet.
LSU didn't play another home game until October. The Auburn game that was supposed to be the weekend following 9/11 was moved to December 1 and became a playoff to decide the SEC West champion that year. Florida/Tennessee was also postponed to that same weekend and became a playoff to decide the SEC East champion.

We're still One America 14 years later, collectively delivering middle fingers to ISIS and all those militants. The only difference is now Aggies can get married. Good God, I love this country.

Great post! At the end of the day, that is what makes this country great. Even if we have differences of opinion and allegiances, we still are Americans and live in the best country on earth!

True...at least on that day.
But politicians from both sides of the aisle wasted no time using the tragedy to divide America like never before.
Now, America is the most divided its ever been. Republicans and Conservatives view Democrats and Liberals as evil, and vice versa.
The United States is weaker than its ever been.
What initially united us was used by our own politicians to ultimately divide us...which was all by design.
