It seems to me they need to study this stuff
They have. There is plenty of research with a quick google scholar search. I did a project on it for biomechanics when I was a kinesiology major at LSU.

I am not a fan of it at all.
I prefer grass, but the south endzone of VHS makes growing grass to difficult and in nothern climates that dead painted grass is worse than the turf. Look at the Redskins and their grass or Pittsburgh or the pics from the Patriots stadium until they changed to turf.

I don't know what exactly they use in domed stadiums, but it ain't that crap.
Actually it is. VHS and the Georgia Dome have the same type of surface. The Superdome used to have Field Turf but switched to a different name brand.

The new type of field turf uses cork instead of rubber pellets. It helps with overheating, and cleats don't get caught in it as much.
ETA- not sure if OM has had that installed or not

Maybe I am wrong. I knew I was going to be attacked about it, but I still say natural grass is better, and to me that turf is like a rubber stopper on a roller skate. I think it is bad news for players.

Well grass is better in the south if you stadium gets enough light. OM's grass would die or get a fungus because it was not getting enough light after they built the upper deck in the south endzone. A dead grass field is worse than a turf field every day of the week.

hat turf is like a rubber stopper on a roller skate.
the old turf was like that plus it was just green carpet on concrete (ouch). The new turf is not.

Read the research, the new stuff is not.

I shattered my right ring finger and had to have reconstructive surgery after playing in the state championship game at MTSU's stadium.
THAT GODDAMN FIELD TURF
THAT GODDAMN FIELD TURF

His injury was not caused by the turf. It was caused by a defender falling on his ankle.
This is getting ridiculous. It mode certainly caused
The injury and the severe level of injury. Everybody wants to point at the tackle as the cause when people are tackled like that every game and this doesn't happen to them on natural surfaces. State has com aimed about the surface since they installed it. Brandon McRae suffered a grotesque career ending fracture because of that plastic shite. Chad Bumphis suffered a broken collarbone on that plastic shite and he never played the same again after coming back from injury.

It's just a second rate high school stadium.

the only people that support artificial turf are people who stand to make money off it. And that bullshite about OM not brings able to grow it is horseshite. They have all kinds of drought, fungus, shade tolerant PAT(prescription athletic turf) on the market. OM doesn't want State, who owns patents on several strains of PAT) to have anything to do with their playing surface.

SEC may take action if some BAMA players get hurt by turf. Until then, forget it.

It can cause injuries if you wear the wrong cleats, which most players do. If you wear the right cleats its just as safe as natural grass.

I am starting to think college football will not be around in another 20 or 30 years with all the crying over injuries.

What about Mizzou, Vandy and UK (aren't yall switching next year)? How about every SEC program including Bama having turf practice fields?
Kentucky has a natural playing surface.

After the 2014 season, construction crews will tear up the field at UK's longtime home to finish a $120 million renovation. When that happens, Stoops confirmed a new synthetic surface will be installed.

The south endzone doesn't get enough sunlight and grass is impossible to grow there. Turf hasn't been the cause of any injuries this year. Please list all injuries in Oxford that could have been prevented on grass.

I've heard turf causes lots of collarbone injuries

When you are tackled and the fall causes you to bounce off the surface it does

The inside of your brain has to be scary

Turf nowadays is as soft or softer than grass.

I think this is the first time I've seen someone blame upper body injuries on the playing surface. Well done
