I'll make sure to pass this treasure trove of info onto all my UGA pals

2 years ago I got a wild hair and wanted to order season tickets from other schools. Surprisingly there are a handful that don't operate like UGA where you need a minimum donation over your lifetime to order, obviously that helps and you get to renew, but several schools offered non-renewable tix to the general public.
I applied for ole miss, and just barely missed the cutoff on the waiting list, although this was when excitement was still quite high. I'm sure you could easily get them now. I DID order an auburn season ticket though, then sold them when they arrived.

That is what most Universities should be doing. The money grab that is College Football today is one reason that the game is going to have a shelflife. When fans only watch their teams on TV, contributions will start to decline.

I just checked on UT's season tickets. I can get 2 seats on the 50, 30 rows up for about $2,900 each. That seat at Kyle (nonstudent) would cost you more like 15-20k. It must be nice.

So it cost more to get your tent set up in the grove than to go to the game?
This actually explains a lot

PSL's are a bit different

Do these have PSLs? I was on UT's site and didn't see anything on it while selecting except for donation plus last years ticket cost.

No A&M does, dont they?
You are seeing singles that will be taken by people with higher priority than you once it actually comes to selection . So it doesnt truly cost $2900, since you had to donate prior years. its just an additional $2900 plus cost that year

It looked to be a 2500 donation. I was able to selection 2 seats together in section C row 30. It did not have a ticket price, but the page before shows ticket price for bench and seatback in the 400s.
I think I overstated A&M's as well. They've lowered the price, I believe. It's probably 4-6k per without the capital investment for Kyle (paid off) so not that much different.

I go back and forth on my thoughts, it's a tough line to tightrope. On the one hand, you should be rewarding people that have given money for decades and have bene there through thick and thin. On the other hand, if you have so many people that fall under that umbrella you're going to phase out John Q. Public from getting renewables. Although at UGA, once you make the minimum cutoff score (donated over a lifetime I mean, it's cumulative) to get season tickets, all you have to do from then on is give the minimum donation per seat to keep getting them. May take a while to actually get them, but once you have them they're yours as long as you give the minimum.

You can get a ticket to a UT game for a can of snuff and sack of pork rinds...so what?
That being said, our AD actually reduced the price on some seats for 2018 and announced there will be significant decreases in concession prices in 2018. The smart people are getting out ahead of the crunch TV and attendance costs are putting fans and doing something about it.
The others are hiring washed out football coaches as ADs.

A&M introduces “touchdown view” ticket prices at only $300 for season tickets with no donation. It’s the last 10 rows out so in the end zone, but it gives an affordable option. It’s only 40-50 bucks a game.

The skyboxes are the real money generators for the AD. I am starting to believe the general public tickets are sold to give atmosphere to those boxes. Corporations are going to figure out that they can rent a nice venue at a great location to watch the games. The quality and size of the TVs today make the game experience as good as a skybox. Throw in a Beach, Lake or skyline backdrop, and you have a combination that will be more appealing to many.

I agree with you on that ticket prices are going to start to decrease, along with concessions. While I enjoy going to games, staying at home is much easier, cheaper and I can watch many games.
I would RATHER be at the game live, but driving 700 miles (one way), paying for 4 tickets, and paying for a hotel makes me have to take out a second mortgage on my house every year......
Honestly the schools make huge amounts of money on TV, advertising, and from the SEC office..... each school can afford to give the average fan a break

It's definitely a balancing act between generating revenue and maintaining an atmosphere that will produce a home field advantage. If the ADs could somehow convince the corporate folks to only give the tickets away to real fans, everybody would win, but as it stands now they more or less get handed out to any random goober who wants to take them gets them. He let's his wife dress him in case they get seen on tv and they end up leaving before half time because she broke a sweat walking from the car and her makeup ran.
