Y’all better clean things up over there!
I know this a joke/troll...
but... WHO F-ING CARES!?
I'm more inclined to make fun of Ole Miss for giving up the the Rebel mascot for a black bear, than I am to make fun of them for being racist...

In related news,
A black guy stabs a white guy to death, and said murderer's parents start a gofundme and raise money for a Cadillac Escalade.
Stop racism you mean whiteys.

Rebels have the Rebel Flag. It makes sense.

I've done quite a bit of traveling through other cities. I always find myself amused after listening to radio talk shows by the fact that I heard way more racially divisive talk in cities like Cincinnati, Boston and Chicago on radio talk shows than anywhere in the south.
I then come here and see this kind of bs. We can't change history. Taking down statues and changing street names don't change the terrible history. What we can do, and I see evidence of it is learning and growth.

I think you can find the racist history of the south anywhere if you look hard enough, what i hate is when people act like it's still going just as strong today, which is bullshite.
although I will say that if the civil war ,in part, was fought because black people in the south wanted to continue to own white slaves , I don't think I would be too happy to see their battle flag on the campus of the school i went to. if you think about it like that, and the roles were reversed, I think you will feel differently about it if you're honest with yourself.

Ridiculous. There is an old Confederate Cemetary on campus at Ole Miss. digging up dead bodies is almost impossible in this country due to laws. At Ole Miss we do have a statue of James Meredith. Who was the first black student at Ole Miss. People say all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons. I’ve seen LSU fans with stars and bars made of purple and gold. Doesn’t make Louisiana or LSU fans racist. Just the assholes who wave them.

I vividly remember purple and gold confederate flags being at a ton of tailgates as late as 2005-06. An LSU football game all player was incredibly outspoken about the topic in 2009 and didn’t see one for years.
I feel like ole Miss does a good job continuing colonel reb outside of formalities. I almost forget he’s “banned” given how much colonel Reb attire you still see. Pretty good happy medium as long as they don’t go after “rebels”

You're doing like what the devil does... telling half truths, which are whole lies.

This is common sense. They don't do common sense on message boards.

Perception is often more than reality. Mississippi did itself no favors by being the last state in the nation to abolish the Confederate flag from its state capital. That was in 2020. When you hang on like a bulldog for that long, people are going to talk.
Georgia's state flag still features the original Confederate symbol.
You can still legally marry your first cousin in Alabama.

Alabama's state flag is based upon a confederate battle flag.
The current one. The same one that flies over the Alabama state capitol at this very second.

You can't bite someone in Utah, and swearing at sporting events in Massachusetts is illegal.
You can't sign into a hotel using a false name in Maine.
In Texas, officials aren’t allowed to be “excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledges the existence of a Supreme Being.”
It's illegal to sniff glue with the intent of getting high from it in Indiana.
Rhode Island has a law against biting off the limbs of another person.
You can’t live on a boat for more than 90 days in Georgia.
You can’t wear a bulletproof vest while committing a crime in New Jersey.
Ain't life quirky.

You're being vague here, so I will assume you mean Confederate Flags when you speak of taking down statues and changing street names. It's hard to say you're growing if you continue to repeat the same mistakes. Hate speech is a part of what ails society, but waving a flag in people's faces with so much dual meaning is a no-no. And Mississippi knew it.

It is tough... Ole Miss basically lost their entire student body at the Battle of Gettysburg. That is the "heritage"... the "hate" was James Meredith's enrollment in 1962... The "healing" was the Chuckie Mullins tragedy in the early 1990s.
I think Ole Miss has had a tough job balancing all this stuff... and it was necessary. But as we see... we have an ex player who is not satisfied that it was enough... and we have white alums and fans who think it was too much.
And again, as an OU fan ... we are not immune to these types issues because of our history with the Tribes and the original White settlement of Oklahoma. OU has had to compromise as well. The difference is that there aren't a lot of Native American recruits or ex players to where that part is an issue.

You articulated that pretty well. Thank you. My disregard for the flag is usually met with get over it…Heritage not hate..or the things im reading in this thread. I guess it’s just something most won’t understand until you’re in that position.
