You’re missing the point. I wasn’t picking on Ole Miss.
It was more of a “wtf are we doing?” with athletic finances response.
This shite would NEVER fly with a publicly traded company. Title IX is absolutely retarded.

It was never supposed to operate like a publicly traded company. These are athletic teams for academic institutions. Its only moved in this direction due to NIL and entertainment $$$

Oxford is an amazing town to raise a family and it’s a great setting for a university.
But Ole miss will always be at a financial disadvantage and in the bottom quarter of the SEC in resources. There’s just no way around it.

That's fine. Why in God's name do we have to have equal number women's and men's sports? Considering the Women's sports ALL lose money?

I always thought colleges having sports teams was to help give students that were good (to great) athletes more opportunity to play their sport while getting a college degree and also increase student/almuni support of the college. I don’t think they were intended to be profitable.
We have lost the plot.

No argument there. At least none that make fiscal sense.

Man I think basketball has been a money pit for OM for a long damn time.

I wonder how long LSU is on the McHook for one of those?

I don’t see how lsu football turns a profit with all the buyouts and overspending on coaches and players.

Kelly and McMahon had to go, because basketball had hit the apathy stage and football was trending that way.
We joked about Deboer at Alabama, but honestly I think he desperately needed to beat Oklahoma in that playoff game. And he needs to beat Texas soon, too. Otherwise, they're in danger of settling into 4th at best, and the money will dry up if that happens. I think they need to contend, and by that I mean really contend for a title. Not happen to slide in due to schedule.
