I lived in Cordova a couple years - it's gone to shite and it's perfectly fair to say "Memphis", since the Memphis elements that have plagued the city have moved into Cordova. Seems dumb for this to even be a discussion point.

I was on the sidelines for multiple Ednar Karr games this year, including in the Superdome when they won the state title.

Even among all the elite athletes at that powerhouse, he still stood out.

Horrible news

Kid made it through one of the tougher areas of New Orleans only to be killed in an upscale area of Memphis.

Prayers for the Ole Miss and Edna Karr family.

Fern Glade Cove is in Cordova and not Memphis and is a upscale neighborhood.

Cordova has changed A LOT in the last 20 years. It’s not the safe suburban neighborhood it used to be

Cordova is a suburb of Memphis. Not "absolutely Memphis."

Correct. Briarcrest isn't even in the same league as MUS, CBHS, Hutchison or St. Mary's or Lausanne. That's the new money crowd in the Memphis area.

I have some first hand information that Mississippi cops use the opportunity to "establish deterrence" whenever a thug from Memphis crosses the state line and "resists arrest".

Fern Glade Cove is absolutely not within the city limits of Memphis, Tennessee, and is a small cul-de-sac in an upscale neighborhood far removed from the ghetto and inner city Memphis. Hell, it's on the other side of Shelby Farms and is less than two miles (as the crow flies) from Briarcrest, the swankiest private school in that area.

I don't know what point you're trying to make here. Memphis sucks and is dangerous. Where this shooting happened isn't.

Any place near or around Memphis isn't a good place to live. Better off living very far away from Memphis. Even Arkansas isn't safe nowadays t s. St. Louis is becoming the next Memphis. Just like New Orleans.

I thought St. Georges was high up on the list. They sure as hell charge like they are. Glad my daughter graduated this year.

We feel terrible for the family, but you know he put himself in a situation where this kind of thing can happen.

Police in Northern Mississippi watch what's coming from Memphis pretty closely. Germantown has cops sitting in the middle of Poplar, right near the line, watching for suspicious vehicles.

Germantown police will pull you over for any type of violation (tags, lights, windows, bumpers) and everyone knows it, so it serves as a deterrent. But you can bypass all of that and get to Cordova pretty easily. Wolfchase Mall, not far from where this crime occurred, is rough. There are always fights, car jackings and other crimes.

Lowest murder rate in 50 years. So sad that this kid was just starting to see the world and this happens.

Hickory Hill crime has been slamming south Germantown at a certain level for almost two decades now
