I agree. Canceling a song because of the word Dixie is disgusting and abhorrent and I am glad people protested.

Oopsy. When I hear stars and bars I think of the ANVA.

Says the guy whose state flag is patterned after the Confederate national flag and is quite prominent on the Georgia campus.

So knowledgeable enough to comment about past racism in Mississippi, but not correct racism in Baton Rouge. Got it.

I'm from Memphis. News out of Oxford was part of the local news cycle in Memphis
It's also news to me that Louisiana creating a city is "racist"

Oh so you’re a democrat for the purpose of this thread. Good to know how you lean on such issues

When you are loosing an argument so you start trying to throw out personal attacks. Always the sign of an intelligent poster.

and it took Mississippi almost 50 more years to remove the confederate battle flag from their state flag and took Ole Miss 40 more years to stop playing Dixie at football games.
The fine people of Louisiana voted a KKK Grand Wizard into the Louisiana senate less than 40 years ago.
The LSU mascot is based on a Confederate regiment.
This is blowing up in Lane Kiffin’s face.

Perception is more important than reality.

It’s a dumb argument you’re trying to have. What exactly did you hope to accomplish here?
Is calling you a democrat s personal attack, though? Your stance seems to be that it was racist for LA to create a new city. That has been a talking point of the left. It’s not an insult to characterize stances on issues along political lines, just reality.
If you want to debate that particular issue I’m all ears as to your opinion as to how it’s racist. And if you’d like, we can also talk about the congressional redistricting in TN. I assume you have similar opinions on that right?
As to the actual thread topic, there’s a reason why Ole Miss finally stopped playing Dixie and why the state finally changed their state flag, because what Kiffin said is true. Fair or not, the state has a certain perception and perception is reality when you’re trying to recruit OOS black players to come to MS. Kiffin isn’t saying anything your own school and state haven’t already taken steps to address. Ole Miss’ entire identity for most of its existence was built around the civil war and antebellum south. That’s not something you can just wash from everyone’s perception in a decade. FFS, when I was in college the Pikes still had Charles Sumner week. And yall think it’s weird to hear comments about the perception of Oxford.
