They don't use Colonel Reb or Confederate imagery anymore. A "rebel" isn't a racist term

Nothing wrong with a rebel mascot in general. Ole Miss’s name “rebel” is referring to the confederacy though, otherwise you wouldn’t have had those flags, songs, etc playing at their games. They aren’t the rebels anymore though AFAIK - they are the landsharks. OM fans can correct me if I’m wrong.

Most of the evidence points to it not being good. The University leadership and professors have wanted to distance themselves from this name for years. Why not let them?

Oh you mean most of the theories that state fans believe?

Most probably it originated with it being a nickname for the state, which is named for the river, which originates from Native Americans name for the river.

Sounds like you might be a racist.

What is YOUR definiton of "racist"? I know they just conveniently changed the definition, but curious to know what you and others think it means. Does it signify a behavior or attitude that ONLY Whites can have?

How is is that the group that commits 85% of all interracial violence is the biggest victim of "racism"?

Oh, and it sounds like you might be a cuck, a self hating White.

That’s fitting since that’s when most state fans start with the egg bowl record to make it look respectable

25 1/2 does not equal 30.

And I love how you pukes love to bring up the history of the Vaught years when it's rightly pointed out that Ole Miss hasn't done shite on the football field since integration, but we're supposed to ignore what was commonplace on your campus and in your stadium just 25 years ago because it's ancient history? Most of us aren't old enough to remember the hatred and violence of the civil rights movement in the late 60s, but most of us have very stark memories of the mid 90s....not too long ago. A period of time when the Ole Miss football program was decimated by a cheating scandal (something you're used to), having trouble recruiting because of ties to racial imagery (something you're used to), and losing home games to shitty mid level teams (something you're used to). To a lot of folks, 1994 feels just like yesterday.

Your current student body and players don't. The 90s are as relevant now as the 60s were then.

I love how there's a portion of State fans that is obsessed with pointing out Ole Miss's racist past all the time

I remember reading when in I was in high school, graduated in 90, there were 35 blacks attending ole miss that weren’t on an athletic or academic scholarship. It was in the Jackson clarion ledger. Found it shocking. That picture supports their statement
