Alabama is also conducting a study to add lacrosse
Bama is also considering adding a varsity-level ice hockey team. The school's ice hockey club team just moved up to the national club-team association's Division I this year (Alabama-Huntsville has already proved that varsity-level ice hockey can succeed in the Deep South).

Total "poor school" move.
Kentucky has a rifle team and W gymnastics. They also have M soccer
They are far from poor
They just happen to have a better AD when it comes to depth of sports at their school.
As for OP, about half the conference does not have W gymnastics
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt

Either we are too poor or we are rich and pay everyone. Which is it?

False dichotomy.
Your athletic dept budget is at the bottom of the SEC, so poor.
The state of MS corruption ranks #1 in the nation.
Still poor, tho.

I hope Texas A&M and Texas never add gymnastics because the state of Texas is the hotbed and they would have a distinct advantage.

Has the state of Arkansas basketball reduced them to talking trash about gymnastics?

Posted on 2/15/16 at 2:56 pm to GnashRebel
The thread is not really about gymnastics. It's about poor schools.

MS kids are to fat to flip and tumble. They just kinda roll

Yeah, childhood obesity is hilarious. It was my experience, though, that those that went to college were much healthier and fit. Obesity directly correlates with poverty.

Makes you almost miss the 4th and 25 threads.
Almost.
Almost.

Ole Miss and Miss state are too poor to field a team in my sport... Oh yeah the poors of arkansas don't have a men's team in my sport either. You'd think participating in the one sport that wins us 30+% of our Olympics medals would be a neat idea.

sec fans should like gymnastics. It is a sport the conference dominates. Not just successful, but dominates. IF you have never watched Florida, Bama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn in gymnastics, you are missing quite the athletic performances of a lifetime during the current era of the sport. IF you don't care, then it is your loss.

So when is LSU axing theirs?

We are, but there haven't been pics posted. Thread sucks, frick you OP
If pics are to be posted, I would like to suggest we make this thread about women's volleyball instead.

We don't care about gymnastics. We have men's soccer playing in CUSA w/ Kentucky because the rest of the SEC white trash hates the sport.
Soccer is GOAT; Premier League is life.

I assumed this was a sport you would only watch if you had a daughter in it.
3 SEC women's gymnastics teams average 50% more in home attendance than MSU does in men's basketball.

It simply comes down to population size. MS is too small, therefore there's not enough in-state interest for another girl sport. MSU and OM are spread thin enough with women's basketball, softball, tennis, golf, volleyball, soccer, track and cross country. State will be adding an equestrian program in the future. That's more than enough.
