Since 1987. If you want to go back further, be my guest.
1993: Bobby Bowden, 63 (Florida State)
2019: Ed Orgeron, 58 (LSU)
1991: Don James, 58 (Washington)
1992: Gene Stallings, 57 (Alabama)
1994: Tom Osborne, 57 (Nebraska)
2005: Mack Brown, 54 (Texas)
2001: Larry Coker, 53 (Miami)
2007: Les Miles, 53 (LSU)
1990: Bobby Ross, 53 (Georgia Tech)
1997: Lloyd Carr, 52 (Michigan)
1988: Lou Holtz, 51 (Notre Dame)
1996: Steve Spurrier, 51 (Florida)
2003: Nick Saban, 51 (LSU) and Pete Carroll, 51 (USC)
1990: Bill McCartney, 50 (Colorado)
2002: Jim Tressel, 49 (Ohio State)
2010: Gene Chizik, 49 (Auburn)
1998: Phillip Fulmer, 48 (Tennessee)
2013: Jimbo Fisher, 47 (Florida State)
2021: Kirby Smart, 46 (Georgia)
2016: Dabo Swinney, 46 (Clemson)
1987: Jimmy Johnson, 44 (Miami)
1989: Dennis Erickson, 42 (Miami)
2006: Urban Meyer, 42 (Florida)
Does Brian Kelly become the oldest or second oldest coach to win a national title? If he won a national title next season, he would be 61. If he is on the 3 year plan? He would be 63, the same age as Bobby Bowden in 1993.
Or does he never win one and use LSU as one of the greatest retirement plans of all time?

I find it unreal that O was older than Gene Stallings. He looked 70 the year they won it.

Why does 1990 have two teams ? Damn TECH can’t win it outright there as bad as UCF

Vigorously chasing the young muff kept Ed youthful

Since 1990, 90, 91, 97 and 03 have 2 teams. 2003 USC/LSU are only co champs in BCS era.

Well since Colorado got a 5th down against Mizzouri, they should have not been able to split the natty that year imo.
But you probably already knew that didn't you?

Because there's a crystal football on Georgia Tech's campus?

Speaking of crystal ball they should go back to that !

DAMN Larry Cocker looked old back then.

Holy cow, I'm as old now as Coker was when he won it. I would have thought he and Gene Stallings and Don James would be top 3.

They still give that one out. You get 4 trophies when you win an NC.

Is it just me or does Kirby look much older than 46? I would have thought he was in his early 50's.

Joe Paterno was 84 years old his entire life, so he would be at the top.

Bowden was 64 when he won. Kelly has plenty of time!
Also, Herbie learned well from his mentor:
