Why shorten the quarters? Ole Miss paid them over $1 million to come to Oxford. Also I rather play the entire half and not shorten and tell my team you keep your head down and keep trying and not give up. You don’t just give up because you have a little adversity!

I don’t know if I’d agree to shorten them myself. Don’t know what their reason was but I could think of a few benefits of playing the full game regardless of the score. A few being (1) gives more PT to players who may not get it in a close game (This could keep some from entering transfer portal due to not playing); (2) first game of the season so I’d want to try out new or different plays/formations in an actual game setting to see if team could execute and how successful they are; (3) team has worked all summer preparing for a 60 minute battle, let them enjoy putting talent and results on display in front of thousands.
