It's not. Realignment is driven by TV revenue which is driven by state footprints. Adding a team from a state with an existing SEC team adds another to the denominator of the equation without adding much to the numerator.

That sure has been the rhetoric. At this point the SEC has nowhere to go but west. The ACC is as protected as we are. If The SEC is going to expand anytime in the next half century, we will be forced to go west. Texas is an obvious choice, and believe me, nobody dislikes them as much as Arkansas fans

Edit: you are kidding yourself if you think getting aTm claimed the state of Texas. To me Texas is different due to its size and population

Actually more, as the SEC lacks a GOR.

It did as far as TV money is concerned.

No way Missouri wants anything to do with Texas. But if Oklahoma goes somewhere so goes Okie Lite with them. Do not forget Okie Lite !!!

No OU.

they tied their wagon to Texas. they should of made that PAC 16 plan happen, even if ATM was uninterested.

Texas needs to pull its head out of its arse.

Some sports talk people are chattering about it, to be fair to the OP. The Rusillo Show had something on it a couple days ago I know for sure.

But I think everyone is discussing for when the GOR expires or is close to it. Not the next 5 years at least.

You realize aTm did the exact same thing for decades?

And I will never believe the sec sewed up tvs in Texas because of aTm. I was recently in Dallas and couldn't get the sec network anywhere I went, and was explained to several times that it was longhorn country

Did you ask for the longhorn network? Cause you can't get that in Dallas either without getting the same package as the SEC.

The SECN is on a very low tier. No one in Dallas has it? I don't believe you.

It's all about money now. If adding Texas lined everyone elses' pockets with another $5-10 million a year, I'm sure everyone would look past the fact that they're (Texas) major douche nozzles.

True...that drives the number of TV sets/Revenue.

Here is where it gets a bit tricky. There are obviously teams in a certain state that have national profiles (Texas, Florida State) that would be huge gets as far as national prestige/watchers.

I think the conferences will begin thinking about quality of teams added rather than quantity of TV's. Just as an example, if Texas were added, you are going to get the quality of a few rivalries that existed for awhile, plus the overall reach of the Longhorn brand. They wouldn't add any TV's, but alot of people would probably tune into a Texas vs Arkansas matchup.

As a matter of fact the longhorn network was on most places I visited. The sec tournament was on and I wanted to watch it. What's hard to believe is that you aggies think you are even close to the tv sets the Longhorns reach. aTm doesn't own Texas, and it's not even close

its not about the tv sets. its about state footprint.

We are not expanding anytime soon. And if we did they would like it to be east coast, namely a team in NC and Virginia. But if they said no then the next two we would go after would be texas and OU, but i highly highly doubt Texas would have the votes to get in and OU is a no go without them unless we added one team from the east and thats all we could get.

You're such a liar. I live in Dallas. SEC network is everywhere. You can't go to a sports bar without seeing it. It's on the basic cable plans. Since joining the SEC, A&M games have been the highest rated on the DFW market. Those are facts.

Yep. The people who would need to vote for them to separate wouldn't be voting them to allow Oklahoma to go to the SEC and leave Oklahoma State sitting there hoping to go to the Pac 12 with Texas.

I said this yesterday, the SEC already tried to get Oklahoma and Oklahoma said no.

Oklahoma will head to the Pac 12 before the SEC.

Can we get a Hypotehtical Expansion Board?

I'll go ahead and my two cents:

Teams to not let in/kick out:
Oklahoma
Texas
Mizzou
Okie Lite
TCU
Baylor
Kansas
Nebraska
Louisville
Clemson (we already have a cult and some self-proclaimed God's people. We don't need another band of heathens)
Maryland
Miami
Duke (I don't give a shite about geography in this case; they're a bunch of Yankee fricks masquerading as a Southern Ivy)
Georgia Tech (once you leave, there's no coming back)

Teams to Consider
FSU
UNC
NC State
Va Tech
UVA

The only reason Florida doesn't want FSU is for recruiting.

When has Florida ever said they don't want FSU in the SEC? We have to recruit against them regardless of their conference. They chose the easy route by joining the ACC...and it was a smart move for them. What we would lose by their joining is an OOC opponent that would have to be replaced every year.
