Did the Big 10 network somehow get a huge jump in subscribers in DC and NY?
Are they getting bigger numbers in these markets since adding Rutgers and Maryland?
Was it "huge" for the ACC to add Syracuse?Look at the ACC footprint,it stretches from Florida up to NY and includes PA...they're still 4th or 5th in P5 revenue
This si exactly what i was thinking. They might have brought in a large number of televisions with those areas, but how many of those televisions actually tune into watch college football?
I honestly did not/do not know the answer, but my gut feeling is viewership did not take a huge bump.

Well, Alabama and LSU.
Delusion runs greatly in you. The last 5 years LSU has taken a big step back. You just got turned down by your first two choices for head coach. You had the most talent you have had on your team since 2011 and you still lost 4 games.
A few years ago, I would have said LSU was the second best program in the SEC. Now? not so much. You are still close to the top, but that has more to do with the weakness of the conference this year, than the strength of your program. Sorry. (Yes, I realize we are not much better, but we seem to be headed in the right direction, while LSU seems to be regressing.) Maybe you are not. Maybe Orgeron can turn it around and get you back to the top. The next 3-4 years will tell us.

I guess whatever you have to think to help you cope with the fact that Kirby Smart is your coach now.

Wasn't the Big 10 already showing games in those markets pre expansion?I'm assuming
a Rutgers vs OSU or Michigan would get a spike in NY viewers but can't really see that
as a justification for huge TV revenue boost.

It's about subscriber fees. Everyone with a cable package that inckudes the network pays a fee for it, but the fre paid by "in-market" subscribers is much higher than the one paid by "out-of-market" subscribers.

In expanding its scholastic footprint, the Big Ten also increased the value of the BTN's New York and D.C. subscribers. According to SNL Kagan data, cable operators pay an estimated "in-market" rate of $1 per sub per month, more than double the $0.44 fees charged outside the conference's home markets. Cablevision alone serves 2.64 million video customers in New York, New Jersey and southwestern Connecticut; with the upgraded fee in place, BTN sees its annual payout from the operator rise to around $31.7 million from $13.9 million.

You should look up Dixie county, OK and read about it
it's not a county in OK. It's an area called "Little Dixie"

That's what I figured and also obviously has to do with the size of the alumni base
in those particular areas and the deals cut with cable operators

Why on earth would they do that? They are better off doing what FSU did and staying in a less competitive conference where the likelihood of going to the playoffs is greater.

Disagree. College football actually needs an even stronger Big 12 and OU is the flagship of that conference.

I don't care one way or another, but I do love reading these threads. I specifically love the Mizzou fans disgusted/afraid of the thought of having to play OU anymore.
I also enjoy the shite talk that comes from Mizzou fans like your team is some magical fit in the SEC but OU isn't... lol WAT?

The Big XII is getting worse. We actually need UT to come back and be competitive. If we keep waxing teams in the Big XII like this year, and our toughest games are WVU and okielite, we come into the playoffs against tested teams. We played tOSU in September. Plus, the whole conference is gimmicky. That can play to our strengths in certain situations, but more often than not, it doesn't.

I'm pretty sure Mizzou and every other SEC school would have had the sense and integrity to throw Mixon out of the school.
You should go hook up with Louisville, FSU, Baylor, and PSU. Those are your peers.
OU is an embarrassment and I wouldn't want Mizzou associated with them

Happy New Year Dude!
As to your point
Perception : B1G added Rutgers and Maryland fans
Reality : B1G added B1G alumni from the other 12 schools who live or work in MD / NJ east coast corridor.

Oh true true.. I enjoyed all of the positive University of Missouri press I saw in 2016.
