The population that the SEC reaches is probably bigger than the B1G's footprint. Texas and Florida alone combine for over 47 million people.

Big 10 footprint is bigger than SEC. Rutgers campus is located in the NYC metro area, which has a population of 20 million by itself, plus another 5 million in the southern part of NJ. That's why lowly Rutgers got a Big 10 invite while bigger and better programs didn't. They were the population cash cow fir the Big 10.

I got bored and did the math.

Big 10's current footprint population is approx. 103 million.

SEC current footprint population is approx. 94 million.

Getting into New York and DC metros was huge for the Big 10.

NEVER. Oklahoma would have to poach recruits from SEC territory. I don't think they would be very successful in the SEC but they would thin out the talent.

KingwoodLSUFan is correct. OU's president, David Boren, is a former Governor and US Senator. He'll never leave okielite to die in the new Southwest Conference. If OU ever does go under Boren's leadership, it would have to be with osu - and you guys DO NOT WANT ok state in the SEC. If Boren were to retire, things could change, but you'd probably want to bring in UT with OU to fill out the even number of sixteen. More likely that OU goes to the B1G, though.

No shite, there's money in them there tits. State's GDP is almost entirely dependent on the I-35 corridor.

Part of Oklahoma was once part of Texas, so who gives a rip? Texas is more of a Midwestern/southwestern state than a southern state anyway. All the notable towns in Texas were settled by Midwesterners and have German names (e.g., Fredericksburg, Luckenbak, etc.)

Only southeast OK and northeast TX are really southern and trashy, which would make them similar to Arkansas and Louisiana.

They play like an SEC team, have a storied past, only like 1 hour from Fayetteville, Arkansas and maybe 3 from Mizzou. I'm sure they would jump at the chance to join in.

The majority of them think they're too good for the SEC, so no.

Correct observation

They may get in the B1G like Nebraska did, but they will not be AAU in most of our lifetimes. Academic delusion is strong in Norman.

Sooners should have taken the invite with TAMU when offered but said no to Slive because Slive said no to Oklahoma State. Pokes were a non starter yet even after the SEC and PAC told Sooners this, they did not listen.

Missouri got the Sooners invite in the SEC
PAC stayed at 12 with no Texas and TAMU

Nice troll or you really are a slow coach

AAU schools in the SEC
#1 Vanderbilt
#2 Florida
#3 Texas A&M
#4 Missouri

AAU schools in the Big 12
#1 Texas
#2 Kansas
#3 Iowa State

While this may seem close, consider Georgia is AAU level school while not in the AAU (more likely to get in before OU). If that does not sink in, Kentucky is about 25 spots ahead of Oklahoma in metrics college presidents actually look at (USNWR is for the masses not college presidents).

Hillbilly UK is 25 - 35 spots ahead of Oklahoma, KENTUCKY!

Let that sink in then run home to Norman and bite your pillow.

Academic smack talk is so 1970's when saying the SEC is so far behind. Take away AL and MS schools and the SEC can hold their own with the other P5 schools.

It's mentality not geography. The Bible Thumpers and gun nuts in Oklahoma would fit right in culturally without missing a beat. They would fit in better than Mizzou fans.

They would be a perfect fit, but like others have said Okie St would have to come with them

I'm totoally fine with that but don't see it happening.

Did the Big 10 network somehow get a huge jump in subscribers in DC and NY?
Are they getting bigger numbers in these markets since adding Rutgers and Maryland?

Was it "huge" for the ACC to add Syracuse?Look at the ACC footprint,it stretches from Florida up to NY and includes PA...they're still 4th or 5th in P5 revenue

Oklahoma had an invite to the Big 10, but wanted to go to the Pac-12 and got rejected. Oklahoma rejected the offer to the SEC because of "low academics and low culture," according to OU president David Boren.

I can't think of anything southern about OK. The first Sooners and first Boomers were Jayhawkers (Union soldiers).

Then you don't know your own state. You should look up Dixie county, OK and read about it. It's where disgruntled confederates moved after The Civil War.

As far as academics and culture, your president is an ignorant and pompous arse since academically, OU as well as most of the rest of the Big XII would be middle of the pack or lower in the SEC. Boren is a fool.
