I’ve been in this board two weeks and you are BY FAR the most dbag poster on here and it’s not close. Are you like 14 years old?

New Orleans and really the entire south has had pro sports since 1966. Compared to the state of Missouri they’re babies. Like I said before here, When you have/had pro sports teams which have won World Series, Cards, Royals, NBA title, Hawks; Super Bowls: Chiefs and Rams; Blues; Played for the Stanley Cup multiple times and won once. it's not just about scheduling and wins and losses. It's about competing with life long fandom in many cases, which competes for the same dollars on any many of the same days, and normally includes 2-3 or more hours less travel. To make matters difficult, the administration neglected Mizzou football for years (1984-1996), so everyone either followed the basketball program or the pro teams or both.
Lastly, from a marketing point of view, it’s been a hard sell in St. Louis. They’ve been largely ignored except for recruiting for years at a time. It seemed Sterk and now Drinkwitz have some understanding of the need to step up the effort and engage with the entire state again. I’m among the few Mizzou fans on this site who remember when Missouri football was popular the state over for a short period of time before the Dark Ages came along.

Ain't got him yet, but hopeful.

True. St Louis had pro football in the 60’s. Then lost it.
Rinse. Repeat. Let’s not forget that.
I do hope Drink is able to recruit more successfully from the StL area, but it’s not just on the coach. Alumni groups need to step up and fill in that gap. It’s too easy to blame it on pro sports.

I remember as well. The dark ages Woody through Smith...although Smith did go to two bowls.
Your point about pro sports though is valid. We've been blessed with too many lifelong teams to support on both sides of the state.
Was at the Cards game last night and up the aisle walks Steve Stipanovich. Asked a couple of people around me if they recgonized Stipo. Who??? they asked.

Since 1999, every Missouri team has a title, and 2 championship appearances
Rams (1999, 2001)
Chiefs (2019, 2020)
Cardinals (2004, 2006, 2011, 2013)
Royals (2014, 2015)
Blues (2019)
Only one appearance for the Blues but they made it count
Rams (1999, 2001)
Chiefs (2019, 2020)
Cardinals (2004, 2006, 2011, 2013)
Royals (2014, 2015)
Blues (2019)

We’ve had pro football in Missouri since 1963, when the Chiefs moved from Houston to Kansas City
The NFL Cardinals and Rams were a sideshow, but even the Rams managed to win a SB during their stay in Missouri

I was a huge baseball and football Cardinal fan, as well as Blues & Rams fan. My only point is that being a pro sports fan does not preclude being a college fan, yet that is always the excuse given for a lukewarm Mizzou fan base.

Aren’t you the same handle who weeks ago said that Mizzou games were agonizing to watch including the 5th down and switched to LSU ?
So, who’s the fairweather fan again ?

Sometimes it depends on their age. People still talk about Spoonball because Spoonhour reminded them of Whitey Herzog and was a co host on Jack Buck’s show on KMOX. I’m seeing a little bit of that in Travis Ford.

People in STL don’t care about Missouri Football. It’s not even the most popular college in that city.
This is simply bs like most of your posts. I live in St. Louis and I know very few people are fans of another football team.

What, what?
Right now we have:
Theo Wease
Jadon Haselwood
Mario William's
And had Trejan Bridges until he was arrested for felony robbery this summer. (These things happen)
They're all 5 stars and the rest are 4 stars.

Not BS at all. Sure you only run around with a few Mizzou fans.
I have family in STL and go several times a year.
Tons of other college teams represented in that city. Maybe you should get out more
Again nobody in STL cares about Missouri tigers
